This article came to mind when I visited my dear friend today. I met her 14 years ago when we moved to Idaho. She was friendly and Kind to us from the very first day we met. We were looking for a home to buy, and she was good enough to drive us around.
She was a friend of the realtor and was not paid for this kind act. We looked for 2 months almost every day until we found a home we liked. She volunteered to take us out looking all those times. We took her out to dinner or lunch because she would not take any money.
The reason I am writing this is because we should appreciate our true friends. I'm not talking about the people you work with or the people you party with. I am talking about the ones that are there during the bad times. When you are down, or broke, or ill. When they have nothing to gain, but your appreciation. There are a lot of people that pass through our lives but only a few are true friends. Family is important, the most important thing always. Still you pick your friends and to find one so great is a real blessing.
She has a kind ear for listening to problems. She is a person who has worthwhile opinions. Her soothing manner is amazing. Even when she is in poor health, she complains little. She is always concerned about your health or your situation. There are some things that you would tell a good friend that you would not want to tell your family. A good friend can suggest a way to solve problems with a family member. Frequently, an opinion from a neutral party is helpful, to see another way of looking at things.
Even though we come from vastly different backgrounds, we have a lot of interesting conversations and opinions on current events. You can learn many interesting differences in the way friends are raised , or the adventures they have had. You can gain a greater understanding of different religions and cultures through making friends.
We should never take a good friend for granted. The good ones don't come along very often. Friends are a big part of your life. They are some great contributors to your happiness. Their companionship should not be taken lightly. My Dad once said" If you have one good friend during your life you are truly a lucky person".
Well I think that's it for now. See You Again?
I hope my friends feel this way about me! What a great article!
