How to Organize Your Home Fast And Easy

Now that spring is here, you probably have already started cleaning or at least planning the annual spring cleaning and refreshing of your home and outdoors. Spring cleaning isn’t all about simply cleaning and washing your home, furniture and belongings, but also the perfect time to declutter, clear out all unnecessary stuff, organize your home in a better way, and make room for the new stuff!

Here are some clever and tested home organizing tips which will help make this task easier, more fun and less daunting:

Declutter

Declutter by moving in quadrants around the room and house, so you make sure you get everything. Don’t attempt to do it at once, because it can be quite overwhelming and can lead you to just give up or to make some irrational decisions, such as throwing out something you will regret later on.

Donate

Make a list of all the rooms and places which need to be cleaned out of the unwanted stuff, and try to do per day, then cross them off the list and continue on the next day. You can, of course, keep some of your good stuff and donate it to charity, or you can use some clever apps and websites to swap clothes and stuff with other users or to find charities you want to help. There are similar websites for donating or swapping books, kids’ stuff, and anything you can think of.

If you find it difficult to purge and get rid of your stuff, you can set an initial goal of getting rid of only one item per month at the beginning. Once you start, the impulse to declutter will grow. After you remove all the stuff from your wardrobes, closet, drawers and rooms, make sure to clean everything thoroughly before putting the leftover things back inside.

Get rid of the unwanted staff

Try to be practical, and accept the fact that you don’t need 10 sets of bedding linen, or 20 bathroom towels simultaneously. More people are getting rid of their unnecessary belonging, gadgets, and other material stuff and are starting to lead minimalistic lifestyles. This could be the new tendency of this decade, so you can start thinking about all those belongings you have and all the spending you do on unnecessary things.

Get rid of all the plastic containers and other absolutely unnecessary stuff you have been collecting under that sink, “just in case”.

If you haven’t been using something but keeping it just in case you happen to need it, you may want to get rid of it. Especially, if it is low cost and easily be purchased in case of urgent need.

Think twice, then buy

Next time you are tempted to buy that cute toaster or nice little picture frame, please think twice whether you really need it and whether you don’t have 10 of each already. This will help you reduce the year-long cluttering and thus make the spring cleaning and decluttering much easier. Plus, you will save tons of money. Remove the furniture you no longer need, make some space for new stuff.

When it comes to cleaning up your closet, just keep whatever clothing you really wear. Donate the rest. If you are not ready to give away all of those clothes and shoes, why not experiment and put them in boxes or vacuum packing bags and test living without them for a month. If you can – then you probably can live without them in the long run too.
