Help, Im Pregnant And My Back Hurts!

Are you in pain thinking "i'm pregnant and my back hurts" all day? There are a number of reasons that may be happening and I'll be going through some reasons why that is happening and also some ways to relieve you back pain including exercises, massages, and pregnancy pillows. Remember though, you are not the only pregnant woman who has back pain during their pregnancy so there are a lot of options for you to help you during your discomfort.

You may have had chronic back pain even before the conception of your baby. Make sure you pay attention to your posture. Try to keep your spine as straight as possible so you are not adding weight to the front of your body. Gravity can be your worst enemy here for back pain. Keep your shoulders back and sit straight if you can. You need to keep those back muscles strong. It's the compression of the muscles in the spine that is painful and causing more tension on your joints and in turn the rest of your body.

Some quick and easy exercises are pelvic tilts. What you want to do is lay down on your back with your feet about shoulder width apart and flat on the floor with your knees bent. Push your pelvis up off the floor and hold it there as you feel your spine strengthening. Some different yoga specific classes that focus on pregnancy are great options throughout your pregnancy to relieve back pain. Obviously after the first trimester you are going to stay off your stomach so modified yoga postures that sequence to focus on the spine will be your best bet.

Massage therapy is a fantastic option. It will help relieve pain throughout your entire body with just one visit. Find a therapist who can help relieve back pain, work on lymphatic drainage and overall well being and make sure they specifically can work on pregnant women. There are points on the body that shouldn't be massaged if you are pregnant so make sure you address this with your therapist.

Last but not least, if you are in pain and just want a good night sleep, a therapist is not available and exercise will keep you awake so many, many women have attested and swear by their pregnancy body pillows. They come in different shapes and sizes and are moldable to your body. It is so easy to relax your belly on the pillow without the strain of tossing and turning as sleep can be so hard when you are pregnant. You can wrap your legs around the pillow and relieve a lot of pain in your hips too.

Maybe now your partner can get some sleep too. Wink wink! So check out the pregnancy pillows reviews that I have if you are interested in finding your own pillow. You can use this pillow after your pregnancy too when you are nursing. It's a great support for any mom having trouble sleeping while pregnant. Enjoy and relieve some of that pain will you? You really need to get some sleep.
