As the snow is falling and the Christmas carols are ringing, the clock is ticking for selecting your New Year Resolution. For some making a New Year’s resolutions serves as commitment to start with a clean slate. For most it ends up as a futile attempt at making a change in your life (just look at the health clubs on January 3 and then again on March 12). Either way, you don’t want to be “that guy” at the New Year’s Eve party who doesn’t have a resolution. You can go the route of selecting a popular New Year’s Resolution such as losing weight or saving money; or you can go with the funny New Year’s Resolution such as post to Facebook or eat only green M&M’s. In any case, I started the quest for my New Year’s Resolution with some inspirational quotes and reverse engineered the possibilities.
If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought.
–Peace Pilgrim
Oh- now there is a great resolution. That sounds really inspiring! I resolve to never think a negative thought in the new year. WAIT! There is no way I can do that! I would suck at that resolution. UGH – that is a negative thought! I have already failed! LOL

So does that mean I should give up wine or milk? If I give up milk, then I would have to give up cookies. If I give up wine…well, that starts bringing up the negative thoughts I resolved to not think…

I really want to find that special “love of my life” in the new year, so I turned to a great relationship quote:
Lust is easy. Love is hard. Like is most important.
-Carl Reiner
Hmmm…if love is hard, maybe I should try either the lust or the like. It says lust is easy, but I don’t consider myself easy. The Like is most important. That sounds like some Social Media marketing guru wrote this, “Getting the people to ‘Like’ your Facebook page is the most important.” I don’t see how that could help in finding the love of my life!
Since these inspirational life quotes didn’t work by themselves to help with my New Year’s Resolution, I decided to combine them and I have come up with the following resolution for the new year:
I will resolve to drink wine while thinking happy thoughts about the Facebook pages I am “Liking” in the New Year!
Hey, I think I can do that! See how easy it is to create your personal New Year’s Resolution versus going with the usual boring ones of weight loss or money management! Give it a try! All you need are some good inspirational quotes and your imagination!
To borrow the great words of Joey Adams, “May all your troubles last as long as your New Year's resolutions!”
May you have a prosperous and happy new year!
