Every person on this planet has a secret dream about how she would like to live. Poor people dream to richness, ugly people dream to be loved and admired, and sick people dream to be healthy.
But if they are in the situation to exactly state what they want to accomplish in the future, almost no one will talk about which their dreams are.
Poor people will tell that they want to increase their revenue to better cover their financial obligations, ugly people will tell they would like to dress better, and sick people will probably tell they want to feel better.
Almost everybody will formulate their goals as a slightly improvement of a state which they already accept as being normal.
The poor consider poverty normal, the ugly accept their marginalization, and the sick accept their diseases.
The difference between dreams and goals is the belief.
When you believe that a dream might happen to you, your dream can become a goal and, even if you don’t know how it could happen, you know that there could be a way. But, when you don’t believe it could happen, the dream remains just a dream – you already know it couldn’t be achieved.
In this way, we program our minds on what is possible for us to achieve.
Although, the limit between dreams and goals can be pushed further.
A simple shift in perspective can easily change our perception versus what we could ever accomplish.
Think to an object you wish to have, but you cannot afford. It could be a nice dress, or an iphone or an expensive car or whatever else you might want.
Then ask yourself what could happen or what could you do to afford it? Write on a piece of paper whatever crosses your mind. Maybe you could sell something and get the money to buy it, or maybe you can work some extra hours, or you can go find another better paid job… Write as many ideas as possible, even if some of them could sound impossible for the moment.
This exercise helps you understand how your own mind put limits to your achievements. Accepting from the beginning what we can do and what we can’t, we’re only rejecting any possibility to really improve our lives.
Train your mind to think differently. Challenge all your beliefs which limit your aspirations.
Instead of accepting as granted that something is impossible for you, ask yourself how it could happen.
If you start to do this exercise each and every day applying it on as many wishes as possible, your mindset will change and your dreams will start to become goals one by one.
Make a habit of stretching your imagination regarding what you can accomplish and you’ll see a big improvement in everything you do and in the rewards you’ll get.
