6 Very Simple Ways to Save Money on Golf!

Everyone that plays golf or has any interest in golf knows that it is not a cheap hobby. All the tee times, clubs, balls, bags, gloves, and apparel aren't something you pick up at the local dollar store.

With the economy the way it is now everyone is looking to save money every little place they can, and that includes our recreational hobbies.

There are a great number of things a golfer can do to save money, but I have compiled a list that I think will help you save the most money on golf.

6 Simple Ways To Save Money on Golf:

1) First thing is first to play golf you are going to need some golf clubs. When compiling your golf bag pick up used golf clubs. Look for these clubs at local garage sales, online, or at sporting good stores. I like to pick up clubs off eBay, but that is a personal preference. Don’t worry if you have different brand clubs in your bag. Chances are you don’t have a camera zooming in on your bag, so I wouldn't worry about what the sports announcers have to say about your mismatched clubs.

2) When you buy golf balls don’t go for the fancy new boxes aligned on the shelf.Go for the bulk used or refurbished bags that contain 48 balls or more. You can usually pick up a bag for around $20 instead of $40 for a box of 12.

3) If you dress to impress on the golf course stock up on your new shirts, pants, hats, and shoes during the off-season (Winter). Sporting good stores usually have big sales to clear out inventory during the off-season. The best way to save money on apparel is stop buying the brand names and look for knock off brands. Most of the brands are still good quality, but don’t have the billion dollar brand name behind it.

4) Don’t go golfing at the most desirable tee time. Most golf courses offer different prices for different tee times. If you want to save money on tee times go late in the day when courses lower their fees due to open tee times.

5) Don’t shell out the extra money to drive to your ball, just walk to it. Golf courses charge extra money to use a golf cart, usually a significant amount more. Just by cutting out the golf cart you can easily save 5-10 dollars a round, maybe even more. Along with saving money I find myself more focused and usually play better when I walk.

6) You don’t always have to play a round at the high-end golf club. There are tons of so-called “mom and pop” golf courses. They are usually much cheaper than the nicest course in your area and even if they are not as nice, you are saving money and practice is practice.

Using these 6 simple tips will help you save a lot of money on you golfing hobby. Just remember that just because it looks nice doesn't mean it is worth more and always keep in mind there is probably something out there cheaper.
