This article is about the reasons I and the aging men in the world, who love golf, always seem to find a reason why they can't golf or don't have time to golf.

1) Too tired from working all day. Been using this excuse for years. I want to go golfing but I've been going eight hours at my thrill a minute job and now I just want to eat (probably junk food), lay on the couch and watch tv.

2) The weather is rotten. Living in the Upper Midwest, this really is a legitimate excuse. First we go through our minimum three months of winter (can't stand winter), then we arrive upon our wonderful spring (may find a few good days here), then we head towards our nice hot summer ( was more bearable when I was younger) and then, finally we round into the best time of the year to golf FALL. Unfortunately for me I'm tired of golf by fall, so I hang up the clubs.

3) I never get any better. Being a classic bogey golfer all my life, it's frustrating to not get better at golf. It certainly takes some of the fun out of the game. I've displayed every bad shot in the book, many times over, in my playing days. I've had the shanks (great fun), I've had the yips, I've hit it right, left, on the ground (love worm burners), in the water, out of bounds (many times consecutively) pretty much anywhere a golf ball isn't suppose to go, I've hit there.

4) It takes too much time. Another classic excuse of mine and many who have played this game. That is supposed to be why we get out and golf (to enjoy the outdoors and the beautiful scenery) unfortunately for me, I find myself using this as a reason not to golf.

5) Golf costs too much. Not a very good excuse at all in the Midwest as golfing is still very reasonable but I still use it once and awhile as an excuse.

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses as to why I and the many who love the game of golf, don't actually go out and do it more. Time to quit using the I'm too tired from working all day excuse, the weather is rotten excuse, the I never get any better excuse, the it takes too much time excuse and the golf costs too much excuse.

Even though, I will always be a golf geek, it's time to start playing more of the game I love.
