For me there is nothing better than spending time on a golf course. While golfing I get away from the responsibilites of life. All I have to worry about is a good golf swing, and not hitting the group on the next fairway. I could spend all day, everyday, golfing.
The grind of daily life can take its toll on anybody. To forget about these things some people get a massage others collect things and so on. I like slipping away to the golf course. On the course I feel like there is nothing else to deal with. No work, no deadlines, and usually the wife leaves me alone. All I care about is a flag that is a couple hundred yards away from me.
There are a few things that need to happen for a golf round to occur. First of all I need a couple of free hours. On top of that I usually need to have a friend that is available also. There is just something about golfing by myself that is not the same. Plus I need a witness in case of a rarity, like me hitting a good golf shot, happens. For some people the second thing that is needed is fair weather. That is not the case for me, as long as the snow isn't blowing then I will golf. Third, this might not be true for all married men, I need permission from the wife. Typically if all of my honey-do list is completed then that is not much of a problem. Then from there a tee time is needed and starting on hole one.
It doesn't matter if the round goes good or bad, there is no such thing as a bad day on the course. My golf rounds usually consist of a few decent shots mixed in with some bad shots and a lot of horrible shots! I typically end the round with a score in the low triple digits.
Now if you were paying attention in my last paragraph you might think that there is no way that I can enjoy myself. All it takes for me is a few good shots to keep me happy. I know that I'm never going to be a pro golfer. But in almost all of my rounds I have three or four good holes. During this stretch I have some good golf swings. These swings result in shots that I didn't think were in my bag. That is what I'm looking forward to when I get the chance to go golfing.
When I get the chance to hit the course I take it. There is nothing better then not having a care in the world. If by some chance I hit a couple of good golf shots, all the better. Golf is a time consuming hobby, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
