How to win the Masters Golf Tournament: Start with the basics

There are many ways to learn the game of golf. You have to be motivated to play -- whether your motivation is pure fun, the camaraderie of friends and fellow golfers -- or maybe you simply enjoy the scenic golf landscapes of favorite golf courses. Perhaps your motivation is physical exercise. Whatever your motivation, once you've decided you want to play golf, how do you learn how to improve your golf swing?

First of all, you've got to play golf to learn golf. There is no substitute for playing time. Second, you've got to practice. Go to a driving range and work on your swing. Pick one club and practice. Or find a large grassy area, take a bag of balls and shag your own practice balls.

Learn from trusted golf teachers and mentors

It's probably no surprise that many of the top names in golf first learned golf from their fathers at a very early age. Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIroy and Matteo Manessero -- each ot these top golfers had fathers who put golf clubs put into their hands when they were toddlers, and nurtured and taught them the game of golf as they were growing up.

Study the golf swing of champions

Phil Mickelson's short game is arguably the best in the world . When you watch Phil in a tournament -- on TV or in person if you are fortunate enough -- pay attention to every aspect of his short game looking for insights and tips that will help your own game. Watch his footwork. Watch his backswing -- check the action in his feet as he swings down and through the ball. Phil is left-handed, so you right-handed golfers will have to take that into account as you mimic his moves.

Seek out advice from trusted golf teachers

Even Mickelson and Woods have their own personal golf swing coach. If you are not able to retain your own personal swing coach, take lessons from the pro at a local golf club. Or use online golf coaches. There are a number of excellent golf teaching programs available online that are team taught by expert instructors.

For tips of how to win The Masters Golf Tournament, seek out past Masters winners, and follow their advice.

That is exactly what Charl Schwartzel did to prepare himself to win the coveted Green Jacket at The Masters Golf 2011. He learned how to play the fast greens at Augusta. He learned a winning game plan for playing each hole.

Tips from Masters winners helped Charl become a golf legend. He birdied the last four holes in Round 4 and came from behind to win by two strokes, No one had ever birdied the final four holes to win,.
