Who Will Dominate World Golf - Could There Be Another Tiger?

During the 21st century there were alot of talented golfers. The names of Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh and Ernie Els were the players always there fighting it out on that fourth and final day. But there was always one man of whom they were all trying to catch. Tiger Woods. He dominated the game like no other player in the history of the game. This one individual changed the way golf was played forever, and golf courses were built longer and tougher to try and challenge his gift. But is there anyone in the game today who will step up in the coming years and come even close to what this freakish golfer achieved? Is there someone who will dominate world golf like Tiger has? Here is a list of players who I think have done well to play in Tigers Era and a few of whom might dominate in the coming decade.

Rory Mcilroy

This Kid is a great golfing talent. He is from Ireland, is only 22 and has started his career quiet well. Is currently ranked 3 in the world. He finished 15th at this years masters but only after leading coming into the final round but then shooting an 80! But then he blitzed the field to win his maiden golfing major at the U.S open. He has had 4 top 10s this year and looks to be set for a very bright future ahead.

Rickie Fowler

An American young gun headed in the right direction. Was Rookie of the year in 2010 after 7 top 10 finishes. He also has 4 top 10 finishes this year and 11 top 25s. At 23 has yet to win his maiden PGA title but he is well overdue and it wont be far around the corner. His best finish at a major came at the British open this year where he tied for 5th.

Jason Day

An aussie golfer who has had a breakthrough season this year, being australias most consistant player and moving to number 7 in the world. Days maiden victory came in 2010 at the Bryon Nelson Championships and also finished the year ranked 8th in the fedex cup standings. 2011 has seen Day finish with 2 second places, a 3rd and 9 top 10 finishes. A huge talent in the golfing world who could do some amazing things in the future.

Adam Scott

Another aussie who has also had a stellar 2011. Has a beautiful golf swing which some say is near flawless. Although 31, I feel he is at his best this year. Has had a victory, a 2nd, 3rd and 6 top 10s this year. Is ranked 10th in the world currently and with 8 PGA career victories up his belt, this could be the year where he starts to play at his full potential and start putting that wonderful swing to good use.

Ryo Ishikawa

At 20 years of age, is an up and coming talent from Japan. At the age of 15 and 8 months he won his first tournament on the Japan Tour, which is the youngest winner on any world tour. Turned pro at 16, and in his second year as a pro posted 4 wins in Japan and cracked the worlds top 50. He also shot a 58 in 2010 in the final round of the Japan Crown tournament to take the win, which was the lowest round ever in any of golfs world major tours, and he was still only 18. Hasnt had the best 2011 but im convinced he will be a huge threat in the years to come.

Dustin Johnson

27 year old Columbian Johnson is currently 2nd in the fedex cup standings and having a wonderful year. The number 6 player in the world has had a victory, 2 2nds and a third, along with 6 top 10 finishes thus far this year. He is a long hitter, ranked 3rd in total drivingg distance this year and is also ranked 2nd on birdie average. Is known to have the final round yips sometimes but has the game to be very dominant if it all comes together, as this year has shown.

AND WHO COULD FORGET THIS GUY.......

TIGER WOODS

The one man, even though he is in his worst career form slump, who can do anything on the golf course and with a golf club in his hand. He has that aura everytime he walks onto any course in the world. His golfswing is envied around the world. No golfer would want him to be close to the lead in the final round as everyone knows what he is capable of. He has 71 career PGA titles and 14 majors, closing in on the great Jack Niklaus record of 18 majors. Is the first ever sportsperson to earn A billion dollars and this continues to grow every year. Tiger Woods will, in my eyes, come back from the current issues in his life and he will be back to his best game within the next year.

There we have it. A list of the players who might, one day, take over Tiger Woods mantle as the best golfer. But, even today, and i think alot of people will agree, he is still the best golfer in the world. And in my opinion, he will have to retire before someone takes over his throne. Only time will tell i guess!!!

Street Talk

Personally I have followed Tiger's career because of the intensity and passion this guy brings to the game. I also believe that he is the one guy who believes that he can make any shot on the golf course; his mental strength I think is what makes him just that a little better than the rest.

I think if Rory learns not to choke, he may become the next Tiger. I do think that golfers are getting better and better though and the competition is far more level than it has ever been. Have to wait and see!
