Reflections Of A Grandma

Wow, I must confess I never dreamed I would become a grandma and not because i didn't want to but because I never thought the day would come. However, the day came in which my daughter tested positive for pregnancy and that day changed my life forever. I was not only nervous when I found out but also scared which is a normal reaction I'm sure.

Then the day came that I had been praying for the last nine months, the arrival of my beautiful granddaughter Riley. I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest as I was so over joyed at her magnificence and beauty. The first time I looked into her blue eyes I knew she already had won me over and there would be nothing I would not do for her in this lifetime.

Then the day came when she arrived home which at that time was with us and that day was amazing. I automatically had a flashback to when my lovely daughter Kayla was born and all the joy she brought to my life and still does and now Kayla would be able to experience the same thing. There is noting more beautiful in this life then the birth of ones child and all the beauty and joy that comes with raising a child.

For the first few months when all she did was sleep I made sure to take full advantage of that by placing her upon my chest and taking naps with her as I had with Kayla. There is something very special about having a baby lay upon your chest feeling their heartbeat with yours.

That first summer after her birth in which she was 8 months I made sure to teach her the art of relaxing in the pool and to my amazement she liked it. When weather permitted that's where you could find Riley and I in the pool enjoying the water. Once summer ended the months started to fly by and soon enough she started growing up and now she is at the wonderful age of 4 years and 10 months.

Now it's really about fun as she is at the perfect age and likes to do about everything like camping, swimming, playing outdoors, soccer, and most importantly catching fireflies best known as lightning bugs. She is at my house everyday and I love every moment I spend with her as it's always a joy just watching her. I cannot imagine life without her as it makes everyday beautiful with her in it.
