Green Power Energy

It's easy to understand why there's so much attention focused on "green power energy" today. If we continue to use our natural resources at the current pace, we may very well deplete our resources and find ourselves with inadequate fuel, water, and electrical energy in the not too distant future.

Because of this, quite a number of people are making the switch from standard electrical supply sources to solar paneling.

However switching to solar paneling isn't the right fit for everybody. If you are considering such a switch, there some things to consider about using solar energy.

One disadvantage of solar energy that turns a lot of people off is the installation expense. Even though currently you can receive a tax rebate for installing solar paneling, it is the initial cost of installation that's often a turnoff for people since a complete installation could cost ten thousand dollars and up.

If your electrical consumption is high, you must purchase more panels in order to supply enough electrical energy. Then too, if sunlight is limited to just a small portion of each day in your area, you will need to install quite a few more panels to absorb enough of the sun's energy while it is available.

While a good solar panel installation can save you money over time, due to reduced electrical consumption, you need to be sure you are currently using the least amount of energy required before you switch over to solar paneling. If you are trying to compensate for wasteful amounts of energy used, you will have to install quite a few extra panels which can be rather expensive.

So take the time to figure out whether solar paneling is practical for you and you can afford it. And be sure your total usage does not include unnecessary or wasteful consumption of electricity. If all is in order consider your local zoning laws. Zoning laws vary from city to city and they determine whether or not you are allowed to do your own installation.

Some cities have local laws that prohibit solar panels in any residential property. So check all this out before you start spending your money and run into legal problems.

Let's assume that it is legal to install solar panels where you live. The next thing you will want to consider is the physical structure itself where the panels will be installed.

Of course you will need the necessary space to install the panels. Then take a look at the surroundings of the house; if large trees surround it, allowing only very limited sunlight to reach your home, you probably won't have enough sunlight available to supply your energy requirements.

So we are beginning to see that green power energy has its pros and cons and it is not always a method that meets everyone's needs. So take your time and do your homework before deciding whether solar paneling is for you.

One important advantage of green power energy, if your home meets the criteria, and the zoning laws allow for it, is that it can save you a tremendous amount of money in the long run. Not only will it make your wallet happy, but since there are no harmful emissions from a solar installation, you will also be protecting and preserving the environment. In that case, it's a win win situation for you.

AJ

I am very interested in solar panels, but the start up costs is a little crazy. Our house was estimated at $18,000! However, it would also create an extra 300+ in monthly revenue by selling back the electric we wouldn't use. It would take a long time to recoup the expense though at that rate!

You're right, AJ. Start up costs must be taken into the equation. Solar has to be viewed as a long term investment. You will recoup your costs in the end and once recouped it's all profit from there on. Those who have taken the long term view and earned their money back are very happy they went solar.
