Let’s start out with that fact that we are all in this together, and I speak to you directly, “what can we do to prevent hair loss men?”
Let’s stick together on this guys, don’t go around knocking a guy or making fun of them just because they are bald, or are on their way to being bald, because believe me, you could very well be next!
Having said that, just to remind us all, men do not want to lose hair, we all want a thick luxurious head of hair. It’s an ego thing! But the loss of hair is no longer the big bugaboo that it was. Many men are quite comfortable with hair loss, definitely not happy about it, but more comfortable than you can imagine. Baldness in the 50’s, 60’ and 70’s was a real problem for men. Apparently it affected our virility, and ability to attract women (unfortunately I think that part may be true ). Everyone bought into the stigma due to all the commercials and let’s not forget the cultural revolution of the 60’s. The more hair you had, the cooler you were. The guys who were losing their hair were part of the establishment (whether they were or not) and were looked down on by the youth of the day. However, as time went by, baldness is no longer the big issue for men that it was prior to the 80 and 90’s.
So just what are the common causes of hair loss? Well I think it’s the stress that us guys go through. Nothing else comes close when it comes to causing baldness (Okay, maybe some condition that causes all your hair to fall out, but we’re talking commonplace reasons here).
Genetics are next in line, but I am not convinced that we are genetically disposed to losing our hair. I guess there are studies that attempt to prove it, nevertheless, it just doesn't make sense to me. Because to take this a step further, and extend the premise beyond hair, that’s like saying we are genetically disposed to being fat, losing our teeth, having bad breath, the list goes on and on. We have choices and we need to make the right choices for our hair. It’s not genetics, its culture. The culture of our home life, the job, the environment, in sum, our day-to-day life situations.
So, what CAN Be Done To Prevent Hair Loss?
Who cares!
Yeah, I Thought So, I Don’ Care Either! I have lost my hair! I don’t think about hair loss any longer – I have nothing left to think about! I accepted my loss of hair some years ago and now I just shave my head to keep it looking neat and tidy. I used to go to the barbers and pay $15 just to spend less than 10 minutes in the chair and not look a whole lot different than when I went in, so do like I did and invest in a barber quality trimmer. I do all my own trimming now and if you have the same issue, i.e. paying for nothing, I advise you to do the same.
However, (I know a guy who always says that when he is explaining something to me –drives me nuts!), anyway, if you are nowhere near bald but your hair is starting to thin out, try some products and techniques for saving your hair. Don’t just abandon it to die a slow death!
A full head of hair is a beautiful thing!
Good luck guys and may your head be happy - no matter what!
Nice article, yes I agree with you, don't make fun of people that are loosing their hair. My husband is in his seventies, had a good head of head, but in the last few years it has been slowing disappearing, I never released until reason-ally how he felt about it. Sad really, it doesn't worry me, but he is not happy about it.
