Most people have things that they want. Perhaps they want a pet. Maybe they want a particular item of clothing. They might also have things that they want to do, or people they want to meet. Like them, I have things I want.
One thing I want is a good grade in the class I am currently taking. I am an online student pursuing a master's degree in creative writing. I am currently taking a literature class. I have found this class interesting, enjoyable, and challenging, and I am hoping that I will be able to continue on with my degree.
Another thing I want is enough money to live comfortably. Luxuries are very nice, but they are not necessary. I just need the peace of mind to know that we will have what we need.
A third thing I want is more workout clothing. I am active, and I wear workout clothing most of the time. I want workout clothes for both warm weather and cool weather. That way, I can be active year-round.
A fourth thing I want is daily inspiration for my writing. I hate to go several days without publishing anything new. I want to give readers new articles to read. New is exciting. I get inspiration for my articles from the headlines on various sites. I also brainstorm for ideas.
Fifth, I want good health so that I can live a long, healthy, happy, and productive life. I try to eat right, exercise, and get enough sleep so that I can stay healthy.
Another thing I want is a trip to New York City to take the audition test for "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" I just hope that if I do get to go, I pass the test.
Seventh, I want a mentor who will train me for public speaking. I want somebody who will work with me and who will tell me when I am making serious mistakes. With jobs I have had in the past, I have been told, "you're fine, you're fine, you're doing fine" when that was not the case. For whatever reason, people did not want to be honest with me. At last, I have found my niche. The writing field is where I belong, and I want to succeed.
Eighth, I think it would be very cool to go see a show on Broadway. I learned that "Sister Act" was on Broadway not that long ago. I love the movie, and I would have loved to see it on stage. That may be something to save money to go do!
Another thing that I would love is to have a Barbie doll from every country in the world. I would enjoy displaying them in my house, and they would make great additions to my collection.
Tenth, I would love to have millions of followers on Twitter. Having millions of followers would mean that millions of people are interested in reading my articles, and that would be an awesome feeling.
Next, I would like the opportunity to participate in the Boston Marathon. If I was going to run in the marathon, I would have to train for it. However, I could also walk in it and still have a good experience.
Another thing that I would love to do is meet my favorite author, James Patterson. I would love to have the chance to talk with him and find out how he comes up with the ideas for his characters and plots. If I did get to meet him, I would like to get his autograph. I just hope that during a once-in-a-lifetime experience like this, I would ask some intelligent questions so that I would not sound like an idiot.
Thirteenth, I would love to have a dog. I love dogs. They are good companions, and they can also be very good protection. A dog may be a possibility if our financial situation changes for the better.
Next, I would like to go to every mall in America. I would like to see what stores they have. At each mall, I would buy a cup of coffee. I would then walk the mall and shop for dolls. I may not find what I would be looking for, but at least I would burn some calories!
Fifteenth, I would love to get autographs from three of my favorite singers: P!nk, Billy Joel, and Cyndi Lauper. When I was a teenager, I collected celebrity autographs. I used to write fan letters, and then I would watch the mail, waiting and hoping that I would receive a large envelope containing an autographed picture. I later learned, however, that on many of these pictures, the signature is mass-produced. The picture, therefore, is likely worth nothing. If I was there to get an autograph in person and I actually saw the person sign the picture, however, it would be an awesome and very memorable experience. That would be a valuable picture.
Sixteenth, I want to go shopping on Black Friday. Many people prefer to stay away from stores on the busiest shopping day of the year, but I think it would be exciting to be part of this annual experience. I would get to walk among the crowd and check out all of the great buys.
Seventeenth, I think it would be cool to have a shot glass collection. I am normally not much of a drinker, but this collection would show others where I have been. It would be a great conversation starter. It may also inspire some writing.
Eighteenth, I would love to see John Tesh in concert. I used to enjoy his show until I moved and could not find a station that carried it. Listening to him on the radio was enjoyable, but seeing him live in concert would be awesome.
Next, I would love to be pampered. I have heard of women who regularly go to get their nails or hair done or who go to the spa. I would love to have these experiences as well.
Finally, I want to be fluent in both Spanish and American Sign Language. Knowing a foreign language is a good skill, and it can come in handy. When you deal with those who do not speak your native language, it is very helpful to be able to speak their language so that you can get what you need.
What about you? What do you want?
Hollie, Nice! Hey, on your Number 7? Here's where I got this from: (1) Being a lector at church. (2) The Dale Carnegie Course. (3) And from teaching - paid and volunteer over the years. In fact? Yesterday I got interviewed and accepted as a volunteer at the Beaverton Library. So I'll be working on brushing up, testing and improving my skills by teaching free computer classes. Great way to try new styles. Just a few thoughts to share with you! Hmm. Homework assignment? Try one yourself! From this tiny list or something it inspires you to find on your own;) blessings, Cynthia
