With many people, it is easy to tell what they do for a living. They wear a uniform that shows what line of work they are in, such as security, construction, or a business field of some sort. Unlike these people, I do not wear a uniform. Instead, I often dress in comfortable clothing, such as a T-shirt and jeans or a T-shirt and sweatpants. To the casual observer who sees me dressed this way, it may appear that I do nothing. However, I carry with me some items that tell the world what I do.
One thing that I usually have with me is my purse, an old Mary Kay bag which bears a sign telling people to look me up on a site online. My purse contains items that many other women carry in their purses, such as my wallet, hand cream, and mints for the moment when I need to speak with someone and I do not want to be embarrassed by bad breath. My purse is not all that I have with me, however.
I also usually have a composition notebook and pen with me. With these items, I can jot down any ideas that come to mind. There is also one other item that I carry with me: my cell phone.
By having my phone with me, I can contact someone if I need help. Loved ones can also reach me if they want to talk. Finally, I can also be contacted by organization representatives who want me to come speak to their members. If I have to wait for some reason, I often pull out my notebook and write. Seeing these items, it is easy to figure out what I do: I am a blogger. I love being a blogger because I am my own boss. I can keep my own hours and work and learn at my own pace. I also enjoy it because it allows me to write, which I love to do.
Perhaps some day, someone will contact me because he wants to interview me. We might meet at a coffee shop for coffee and scones. Then, when we are both settled at the table, he will begin his interview, and he will ask me what I do. I will smile and tell him that hopefully, I inspire the world. I will also tell him that I love what I do and that I hope that I can keep doing it.
