Your Every Day Check List

Time flies. Where did the time go? Did I get everything done on my agenda? I'm running late. I wish there were more hours in a day.

Sound familiar at all? We all have the same 24 hours to work within a day, we all have people to see, places to go, things to get done. While staying busy is normal for anyone trying to accomplish just about anything, it is easy to forget the little things that make our world just so much better. Take a moment each day and check some of these off "your other list", a list I am sharing with you to make each day just a little richer and maybe someone else's too. This is an intentional list; you make a point to do it.

Your Other Check List:

1. Smile. Not just a regular passing smile, but a long intended smile. When you smile, think about something that makes you smile. Yep that's right, smile first, think of why you're happy after. Make sure you share that intended, on purpose smile with at least one other human being today.

2. Tell your family you love them. They already know, but you can never say it too often. They are the special people put on this earth to be forever tied to you in such a unique way. You only have one family, tell them you love them.

3. Go outside. I hope to god every one of us goes outside at least once a day, but make this trip a special occasion. Breathe in the fresh air. Look up at the sky. Appreciate the huge world around you and that you're just a tiny little addition to it. Our world is awesome, and it's outside.

4. Laugh. If you have to find a way, look for it. Ask someone to share a joke with you, watch a video of some crazy animals being goofy, tickle your child and let their laugh infect you. Laughter is awesome medicine.

5. Say something kind to a stranger. Somebody you would usually never even notice or take a second glance at. You have no idea how much you can touch a stranger's heart with a kind word. Mean what you say and feel the special presence of that person that is sharing this world with you. We're all special and we all deserve to hear it.

6. Believe strongly. In yourself, in those you care about. When the day isn't going like you wished or a good friend lets you down, believe in the good in people and their potential. Believe you are here for a reason and your unique role will make this world a better place. Believe the same in others.

7. Be thankful for something specific. Chances are there are many small and huge things in your life that you forget about or ignore, being caught up in the everyday shuffle. When you think about what it is that makes you thankful, hold on to that thought for a moment and let it sink in.

8. Drink a glass of water. You need water more than you may know. Water is often the solution to so many symptoms that bother us. Drink a big old glass of water and your body will thank you for it.

9. Sit in silence. This might be more difficult than you think. You may need to search good and hard to find some place truly silent. In fact it might have to be the bathroom! Wherever you find silence, stay for at least a couple minutes. This may not seem like much time, but in during an already busy day it may seem hard just to buy out a couple minutes. Take more if you can, but just be silent. Take that moment to calm your mind and refresh yourself for whatever comes next.

10. Let go of guilt when you can't accomplish everything you meant to. Lists serve a purpose, but life is not a big list. Life is living, experiencing, growing, learning, and loving.

What would you put on your list? I was happy to share mine and hope it brings peace and happiness to your day!
