Razer has climbed to the top of manufacturing gaming peripherials by teaming up with the best of the best eSports teams. With the Blackwidow, Artcosa, and Lycosa keyboards(Interesting Names!) , it can be confusing as to which keyboard is right for you. In this article ill be going over each keyboard and giving a gamers review on these keyboards.
The Razer Artcosa Keyboard
The Artcosa is razers essential class for gaming keyboards and is a must for amatuers out there on a budget looking for a better keyboard. It is a splitting image of its higher end the Lycosa, but only for a fraction of its cost. It comes with anti-ghosting capabilities around the "WASD" cluster. This keyboard is good if you play FPS games on PC as most of you do know that pressing "W" and "D" to move diagonally wont work on some cheaper keyboards. However if your playing RTS games like Starcraft this keyboard probably wont be right for you. It does come with a 1000hz response rate so its a good and affordable upgrade from your generic keyboard.
The Razer Lycosa Keyboard
Going a step higher, the Lycosa Keyboard is Razers "Elite" class of keyboard. This keyboard has a non-slip rubber finish to keep your fingers from accidentally slipping and pressing the wrong key. Just like its sister, the Artcosa it has the same "WASD" anti-ghosting cluster, but what seperates the two is the Lycosa has full backlighting and also the option to only light up the "WASD" cluster. The Lycosa comes with a 1000hz response rate and additional audio-out/mic-in and usb ports incorporated into the keyboard. However, I wish Razer put them on the top of the keyboard instead of the right side as it can interfere with my mouse sometimes.
The Razer Blackwidow
Finally Razers top of the line keyboard, the Blackwidow. The Blackwidow comes with three different versions of itself, the Basic, Ultimate, and Stealth. What sets apart the Blackwidow keyboard from the Artcosa and Lycosa is that it is a mechanical keyboard. This means that each key has a its own switch mechanism which translates to a longer lasting keyboard. Along with a longer lasting keyboard, the tactile feedback a mechanical keyboard produces reduces the travel time between keys during keystrokes. Which leads to increase comfort during long gaming sessions. The only downside that this keyboard has is that it has a glossy finish which attracts finger prints like crazy. Wiping the keyboard down a few times a week can solve this problem however.
Difference between Blackwidow Basic, Blackwidow Ultimate, and Blackwidow Stealth:
Although the Stealth is an improved version of the ultimate, it seems that its currently unavailable for purchase as of 10/27/2011 from the razerstore.
