A little plant called aloe vera. We think about it as being something to help with burns and cuts. Many people do not realize that this plant could be more than what we already know about it.
Aloe vera is commonly known as just plain aloe. It was mostly found in Africa but is grown all over the world today. With leaves that can grow up to 2 foot long, it blossoms yellow or orange flowers. The clear gel from its stem could be applied on the skin. The leaf base, also called bitters, produces a yellow sap. When the sap dries it could be taken orally. It can act as a laxative or anti-inflammatory approach to helping you. When used as a laxative one would use aloe bitters. Aloe also helps the blood sugar and to absorb nutrients in the digestive tract.
Aloe sap triggers immune cells. This helps fight bacterial infections due to burns or wounds. It increases oxygen carried by blood to cells by stimulating blood at the surface. This helps wounds heal faster. This could also help repair damaged cells and prevents burns from scarring over a time period. Aloe helps to relieve swelling and itching while reducing inflammation.
As an anti-inflammatory, aloe vera is effective in Crohn's Disease when it is drank in juice form. You should not use aloe bitters or aloe laxatives because it might cause severe cramping. Aloe vera juice has aloemannan. This is a concentrated sugar that helps the kidneys grow healthy cells. When this happens it slows the rate of crystal formation.
People with frost bite can be treated with aloe cream. This will help heal the area better. A lot of times one will have very little to no tissue loss or amputation.
It can help kill viruses that cause herpes and shingles and help with pain and inflammation of various skin disorders. Other helpful ways include stopping inflammation that tumors tend to thrive on, soothing peptic ulcers, aids in healing hemorrhoids, as a bandage after surgical procedures, and it can even be used against HIV.
Ayurvedic medicine is a term for traditional medicine in India. In this type of medicine, aloe might be used to help trigger fertility in women. But you should not take it if you are taking birth control pills.
I would suggest that you consult advice from a professional before deciding to use herbs of any kind. When used in the wrong setting it could have the wrong effect on the body.
