Bananas Are Bad And Other Absolutely Insane Diet Tips You Will Stumble Across Online

If you spend anytime online, it is a safe bet that you are going to see some very interesting, bewildering and at times, troubling things. Some of the things that you see will be specifically tailored to searches that you have made in the past- it is how these things work. If you spend any time searching about weight loss, fitness and dieting you are likely to run across a little banner ad that shows two tummies, both crudely drawn. One is taut and toned and the other is flabby and jiggly. In the middle of these tummies stands a bunch of bananas which are proclaimed to be one of the five foods that you should never eat. That's right. There is a diet that claims that the banana is one of the worst foods for weight loss.

Every year, millions of people start a diet plan of some kind. There are literally thousands of diets to choose from including sensible plans and the more out of this world ones that feature single foods, liquid foods or long lists of banned foods. This one that bans bananas is no different than those others.

If you click on the picture of the animated tummies you will be taken to a video. Like other sites of its kind, this one swears that it will only be up for a "very short time" and reminds you that you are lucky to have seen it at all. And like others, you have to sit through the entire presentation before getting to the actual sales pitch. I suffered through it once (at least most of it) and for the life of me, I was amused because not only did they fail to mention diet, healthy eating or even food at all, they specifically did not mention bananas or their four little brothers that were equally bad for you.

Curious, I did some more research on the topic of bananas. I know that the old Atkins diet, the one that extolled hamburgers with bacon but no buns did not allow fruit, especially in the first phase. There are some that limit your fruit in the early days, but most do add most fruits back in eventually. Bananas, if mentioned, are on the "with caution" list but because they are more calorie dense than most other fruits. A very ripe banana is high in carbohydrates, granted but is still a better food choice than many others. It is also a portable food that is easy to eat and high in fiber. In the world of foods, it is certainly not the worst choice you could make and probably should not be included on the list of foods never to eat.

Good Article Amy..Bananas always seem to get a bad rep. Never could figure out why...Have you ever noticed every diet you read or hear about has this little disclaimer attached "The results shown here are not typical. There are no guarantees for permanent weight loss. Always check with a doctor before undergoing any physical fitness program." it would be a lot more honest if the words "Diets don't work. And this one might do you more harm than good" but that won't sell products..LOL
