The Asian flush has many similarities to an alcohol allergy, and it is a frustrating condition for many Asian people, or even some people who are not Asian. This condition can sometimes be mild, while other times it is quite severe. For people who suffer from it, it means constantly being embarrassed when they drink, as well as being incredibly uncomfortable. Asian flush prevention is not easy, and most of the well-known methods out there are stopgap measures rather than actual solutions.
For some people, the solution to Asian flush is imply to stop drinking. Needless to say, as solutions go this is quite effective, because Asian flush is brought on by alcohol, so not drinking neatly removes the problem entirely. However, for most people, removing alcohol from the equation isn’t really an option. I mean, you get alcohol flush in the first place because you want to drink alcohol, so you aren’t really achieving much by choosing not to drink it.
So, what can you do about getting the Asian flush? Perhaps the most common approach is to use antacids. There are a lot of these available, and they do provide a good temporary solution. The problem is that to use antacids to prevent the Asian flush, you really have to be on top of it. You need to be having the antacids at least half an hour before you drink. Remembering this can be a pain, and you are kind of stuck if you run out at a critical time.
It is also a bad look. Can you imagine what people think when you are using a box of pills before or during a party, particularly if you have to share the pills with several friends. This could get you in a lot of trouble, and at the least it has the potential to lead to some significant misunderstandings.
So what do you do instead?
One approach to Asian flush prevention that some people take is just to continue drinking alcohol. They believe that if they do this for a long time their symptoms of Asian flush will disappear.
It doesn't work like this.
Asian flush will be as strong the 20th time you go out for drinks as it was the first. In recent years, because of the merging of western drinking culture and alcohol flush sufferers (namely Asians), a number of natural solutions for Asian flush have been developed. There are many types of remedies from alternative medicine sources, blogs, and digital information products. None have been proven, though many have been discussed on forums. Trying some herbal remedies may provide you with a cheap and convenient solution to alcohol flush syndrome.
Of course, when trying these products, do so with a bit of skepticism. From what I've seen, there are as many people saying they do work, as there are saying they don't work. It's tough to tell advertisers from real people, just like it's tough to say trolls from actual buyers. As always, do your due diligence.
