Foods That Fight Cancer: Stomach Cancer

I am sure it is not news to you that there are foods that fight cancer. Lots of people accept that as fact yet they continue to ignore that they themselves could actually get cancer, even stomach cancer which is becoming more common. It strikes about one million people a year, and the cases are showing up in younger adults.

There is no doubt in Franz's mind that the rise in cancer rates in this country is directly reflected in the foods a person chooses to eat, or not eat. That combined with other unhealthy lifestyle choices is why we are seeing more cancer cases, in much younger adults, than we used to. Poor eating habits are being passed on to the next generation, and unless something is done, the trend will continue to escalate.

How can we change the trend? By educating the younger generation about foods that fight cancer. Some schools are already moving in that direction. But let's face it, unless kids realize that there are foods that fight cancer, and that they themselves can easily become a statistic in later years unless they make better food choices, the trend for increased cancer cases will have younger adults hearing the words: you have cancer!

So what are some of the foods that fight cancer, particularly stomach cancer? Natural vitamin C from oranges and tangerines are a great cancer fighter! Vitamin C is a great way to attack the free radicals that are created by the body's metabolism. Natural vitamin C from foods like oranges help shield your cells by eliminating free radicals as they form. Just one orange a day will provide lots of benefits.

What are some other foods that fight cancer? Carrots contain beta-carotene which is also another powerful antioxidant. Just like vitamin C it is able to attack free radicals before they can do any damage. Actually, the two work well together. Vitamin C works on the blood and beta-carotene protects the surface of your cells. So, as well as eating an orange each day, be sure to snack on carrots.

Sweet potatoes are another one of the foods that fight cancer. They, like carrots, also have the orange hue and also contain beta-carotene. But, they also have another magic nutrient in them and that is caffeic acid. This nutrient is able to kill tumors by cutting off their blood supply. If you like potatoes skip white potatoes and replace them with sweet potatoes. They are so much better for you!

And the last of the stomach cancer fighting foods that Franz will mention is garlic. Garlic contains allicin, the aroma producer you smell just after you crush a garlic clove. Allicin is a cancer fighter that reaches full strength about ten minutes after a garlic clove is crushed. So, be patient after you crush a clove of fresh garlic so you can get the most out of it. Oh, and just a one garlic clove is all you need to reap the benefits of this wonderful food additive.

If you want to help avoid the possibility of hearing the words you have stomach cancer, be sure to add oranges, carrots, sweet potatoes, and garlic to your list of healthy foods to enjoy often.

Thanks Rodney! Exactly right on the fresh versus canned. You are psychic! I make mention of that in today's article.

Great article. Maybe we need to buy more fresh fruits and vegetables instead of them being in a can. All the fast food has gotten out of control due to the busy schedules that many families have to deal with. Garlic is a cancer fighter. Great stuff. I'll share it with a tweet.
