This is an article about the health benefits of raw honey. I will try to keep it short and sweet like honey.
I love honey. I love putting it on my yogurt every morning and stirring it into my tea. In my romantic heart I think of honey as liquid sunshine in a jar. What better way to bring light into your life than through the sweetness of honey?
This post isn't just about honey though, it's about the health benefits of raw honey, and yes there is a big difference between the two. Regular store bought honey has been pasteurized and processed causing a lot of important enzymes, amino acids, and vitamins to be destroyed.
Raw honey is a beautiful, healing food that can be used in so many ways. Throughout time it has even been considered food of the Gods.
4 Health Benefits of Raw Honey
1. Honey is a friend when you need energy. I eat honey in the morning and it feels pretty good. I drizzle it on top of my yogurt. I have a friend that spreads raw honey and raw almond butter on bread for breakfast. She swears it keeps her going for a long time. Also put honey in your tea instead of sugar and see how it feels.
2. Honey helps you sleep. Honey is very soothing for so many things, it can even help you fall asleep. My mom would regularly make me warm milk with honey which was very comforting, and a good way to get drowsy.
3. Honey is a natural healer of wounds and burns, as well as sore throats. Apply honey to a burn to let it heal faster. I have a friend who uses honey on wounds. I myself have used honey on my very sore upper lip. I applied it at night before bed and in the morning the soreness was gone!
4. Honey supports the immune system. I'm especially impressed by honeys ability to help the body fight disease. A mixture of honey, lemon juice and warm water is wonderful medicine when you're ill. My favorite, and most powerful remedy however is apple cider vinegar with honey.
There are many more health benefits of raw honey than the ones I've mentioned here. I mean honey has been used for thousands of years, and it has even been found in ancient tombs in Egypt, still edible! Honey is the only food that does not spoil. It truly seem magical.
If you haven't already, I suggest you buy a jar of honey and start adding it to your teas, food and first aid kit. Experiment with the health benefits of raw honey.
