How To Get Rid Of Double Chin

What is Double Chin?

Of all the places that the body deposits fat in an obese or older person, that seems to bother us the most apart from the stomach is around the face and neck. This may be obvious because the first part of the body we see when we wake up in the morning and look in the mirror is our face and neck. If we do not seem to like what we see in the morning reflecting back at us from the mirror, the rest of the day may be filled with lowered self-esteem and may lead to depression. In double chin, the face looks as if there is a second chin below the first one.

Where Does Double Chin Come From?

When we eat a lot of processed foods, burgers, fries and oily foods that are high in trans and saturated fats, the body stores these fats around the face and neck. Pastries, cookies and cakes are broken down to carbohydrates and stored around the face. Processed foods are also very high in sodium content.

Research has shown that sodium causes the body to retain water. When a lot of water is retained in our cells and tissue, the chin and neck puffs up and gives the appearance of double chin

Apart from the above causes, double chin may be genetic.

What Do We Do About It?

If we want to get rid of double chin, we must first of all exercise our facial muscles. There are several methods to exercise the facial muscles but chewing rubber or sugarless gum is recommended. A good cardiovascular exercise and making ugly faces in the mirror is recommended. If we neglect the muscles of our face, just like any other muscle in the body, it becomes flabby and saggy.

Stay away from saturated foods. Stay away from fast foods.

Increase Your Metabolic Rate

Fast foods may taste good but it is the easiest way to increase saturated and trans fats in the body. Of all the fats, they burn off last only after unsaturated fats are burned off. We must drink plenty of water to burn off fats. Develop a good exercise regimen that will make you sweat profusely. Some people eat just because it is time to eat whether they are hungry or not. Do not eat unless you are hungry. And when you eat don't overload, eat just enough to stop the hunger.

Eat a fruit in between meals and eat breakfast early so that you will be hungry before lunch.

Overview

If you want to get rid of double chin, you must get a good cardiovascular exercise going and exercise your facial muscles daily. Stay away from processed foods, soda and other soft drinks and drink plenty of water.
