How to Work Out In the City

It can be tough trying to get a proper workout in amidst all the hustle and bustle of city life. You still should, though. You need to stay active for the sake of your continued health and mental wellness if nothing else. If you do not have access to a nearby gym, this can seem like an impossible task. This is not true, though. Knowing how to workout in the city is as simple as having some time and a little creativity.

There are literally 100s of exercises that you can do with just a flat floor! From push ups to squats to V-sits, you will never be hurting for exercises. The flat floor does have a few limitations. That is where different bars come in.

A playground is a perfect place to get in a bodyweight workout(try not to scare the kids)! The possibilities are literally endless when you throw a few bars into the mix. You can now do every dip variations, every pull up variation, and every leg raise variation among many others.

Another great way to get in a workout is to join martial arts classes. These are just so much fun that it will not even feel like hard work. Just be careful which one you choose. Martial arts in the west can range from complete McDojo belt factories that produce low quality students to full out abusive teachers who take out their problems on their students. In come cases, I have seen both in one! The easiest way to tell if you have come to the right place is to spar with the students.

In your day to day life, sometimes it is more beneficial to bike from A to B than to take a car/cab. When this is the case, you should take full advantage of this and get a work out for your legs in everywhere you go. Biking will not only train your legs and endurance; it will keep you sharp and focused(unless you want to be hit!) which is good for your mental health. Yes, a bit of danger is good for your mind!

So you see, there is not excuse whether you live in New York or L.A. The important thing is creativity. These examples should be plenty to get you going but you can always expand and come up with new ideas on how to get ripped in the city. The only thing that matters is that you work hard and never give up!

Well what you said was absolutely true. The noises disturb the mindset required to focus.

Ya that`s what so many public gyms get wrong. Silence is golden for serious training.
