Is Eating Meat As Healthy As We Think

While many people enjoy meat, it is not as healthy as we thought, because of evidence proving red meat is hazardous to people’s health. Every time we consume meat we risk getting E. coli poisoning, or any other health hazards. There was a boy who ate only “a quarter” of a hamburger that was not cooked thoroughly, research found that the burger was infected with E. coli and the boy got extremely ill and got put in the hospital for a lengthy time, but luckily pulled through. The boy resulted in losing 30% of his lung tissue, and the lining of his heart. I cannot imagine having to go through such a horrifying situation, and do not wish that on anybody in this lifetime!

Most people do not think about the risk taken, when deciding to consume meat, the only event on their minds is the delicious taste of the meats they are eating. The last matter on my mind was the diseases that can be carried from food I eat every day, into my body, until now. Many hamburgers’, especially in fast food restaurants, are not cooked fully, and carry E. coli and even salmonella that can lead anybody to getting very sick.

When preparing meat at home, it is recommended to cook our meat slowly, at a low temperature and to marinate our meat in spices or herbs reducing, carcinogens made in the cooking process. It is recommended to use tongs while cooking over a grill stove, instead of forks, because forks pierces holes in the meat, then fat drips onto the coals, causing carcinogens rising up to the meat.

Eating meat is not as healthy as we think. When livestock are over stressed they go through physiological changes. A lot of livestock animals are raised in close confined environment with very little access to sunlight or fresh air. They spend most of their lives rolling around in their own bodily waste.

Due to factories being far away from processors, animals spend many hours packed into the backs of trucks on the way to the slaughter house. Livestock are put in a high intense, fast-paced environment focused, which makes high stress levels in their bodies. By being under these stressful circumstances, eventually causes health problems for the animals and to people who later consume that meat.

Researchers found that people who ate a lot of red meat have a greater risk of heart disease or cancer, which can lead to death. Consumers that eat meat have a greater risk of getting pancreatic cancer, premenopausal cancer in women, and prostate cancer in men.

Colon cancer is a food related cancer. The more red meat that a person eats, the greater risk they have in getting colon cancer. People consume more vegetables have less chances of getting cancer. Increased risk of cancer is from the increased inflammation from chemicals found in red meat. Consumers of meat are more likely to die of heart disease, or other diseases or cancers.

The most important reason eating meat is not as healthy as we think is because evidence that meat is hazardous to our health. Meat is hazardous to our health in many ways, including causing diabetes.

We can get the same protein that we get from meat from chicken without the skin, turkey, fish, nuts, eggs, low-fat cheese, low-fat cottage cheese or fat-free Greek yogurt, tofu and other soy products. Processed meat is what causes a higher risk of getting colon cancer, as well as overcooking meats at a high temperature.

We can add rosemary, basil, thyme, or other spices of choice. Marinating our meat can reduce carcinogens formed while cooking. When grilling our meat, it is recommended to use tongs instead of forks, due to forks puncturing holes in the meat, that later drips fat into the coils, that causes carcinogens.

In conclusion, although much people enjoy eating meat, meat is not as healthy as we think for these main reasons. First, researchers found that people who consumed the most meat have a greater risk of death by getting heart disease and cancer. Ground beef may contain bacteria, such as salmonella and E. coli. Fast food restaurants cook their meat fast and at a high temperature causing the meat to form carcinogens, which gives people who consume the meat higher risk of getting colon cancer.

I think a balance of all food groups is really the smart way to go. I would think the more natural, the better.
