Have you been diagnosed with this chronic disease? If your answer is yes, then you are now familiar with the phrase “blood sugar levels control”. As a diabetic, it means that you will be checking on your blood sugars on regular basis. The worst is, it is not only your sugars that you will have issues with, your feet also! The good news is that there is a solution for diabetic feet problems.

Foot problems in diabetics

One of the symptoms of diabetes is numbness of the limbs. As a diabetic, chances of nerve damage are high. This condition occurs when nerve function deteriorates. It leads to the loss of feeling in the hands and legs. If the condition worsens, it leads to foot related injuries. If you fail to take good care of bruises, cuts and blisters in the feet, it could become a serious health issue. It is very sad that some diabetics have their feet or legs amputate because of foot injuries.

Another issue in diabetics that may lead to feet problems is poor blood circulation. Diabetes is a serious disease that may cause arteries in the body to block. This means that it limits oxygen and blood circulating in the body. In case of an injury, the body does not heal quickly.

Armed with such information, it only means that as a diabetic, you should take proper care of your feet to avoid complications that could be as bad as amputations. Diabetic socks help you to just do that!

Diabetes socks

Cotton, nylon, acrylic, and elastic combined together make diabetes socks. As such, they make you feel comfortable as they cushion your feet. Diabetic socks also keep the feet cool and dry.

How do they work?

These socks used by diabetics absorb moisture from the skin. They are also comfortable so that your feet feel relaxed and allow for better blood circulation. Most brands add anti-microbial treatment to diabetic socks to prevent odor. The top part of the sock is non-binding so that the upper leg does not fit tightly which is very uncomfortable. When worn together with comfortable shoes, they help diabetics protect their susceptible feet from any injury especially the lack of proper circulation in the body.

As a diabetic, foot care becomes as important as blood sugar level control. Diabetes socks help you take care of your feet easily as they make one feel comfortable. Note that any type of socks your wear – whether for diabetes or ordinary – comfort is the most important aspect to consider.
