Targeted Nutrition Leads To A Healthy Lifestyle

Every day in the news there is something about obesity, weight gain, and reports on new scientific findings. It is becoming harder and harder to keep up with the ever changing landscape on nutrition news, and while it is true that what is known about your diet and the benefits of good nutrition are changing, there are some established nutrition basics to remember.

The basics of nutrition amounts to understanding the food groups and the daily requirements from each that are recommended for a healthy lifestyle. Everyone should study and learn the effects of daily caloric intake and the functions that targeted nutrition play in a healthy diet.

The many functions of the human body are so complex that it is almost beyond comprehension. Stop for a minute and think of all the procedures and course of actions that the body goes through time and again just to maintain our life on a daily basis. All the more reason to learn why targeted nutrition leads to a healthy lifestyle and to a better understanding of what it takes for optimal health day in and day out.

Targeted nutrition requires an understanding of the six essential nutrients, all of which carry out at least one of three different functions: regulating the metabolic process, providing essential energy, building and repairing tissues.

Carbohydrates

  • Carbohydrates can be healthy or unhealthy and the foods that you eat contain different types of carbohydrates.

Proteins

  • Proteins are in every living cell in your body and are an important part of your bones, muscles and skin.

Fats

  • Not all fats are the same and some are better for you than others. Your body needs fat to function properly although eating large quantities of fat can cause weight gain.

Vitamins

  • Vitamins are substances that your body needs for growth and good health. Each vitamin has a specific function needed by the body to remain healthy.

Minerals

  • There are two minerals: macro minerals and trace minerals. Like vitamins, minerals are substances found in food that your body requires for a healthy lifestyle.

Water

  • A person cannot live without water, and without it you would die in a few days. Water makes up more than sixty percent of your body weight and is an extremely important key to targeted nutrition.

Creating a healthy lifestyle through targeted nutrition does not have to mean drastic changes. The trick to healthier living is to make your changes slowly. Begin by gradually changing your diet, eating a variety of healthy foods, practicing portion control and include daily exercise. It is never too late to make a healthy lifestyle choice.
