Recently I watched a documentary on the Canadian Oil Sands controversy on National Geographic; its destruction on the environment and more significantly on livelihoods. Over a stretch of time a small settlement down river started experiencing cases of health complications and cancers not previously reported! Deaths too from the same! And these were not isolated cases. A long tussle between the oil giants and the community began on the harmful impact of the mines. Though the industry disputes vehemently, independent researchers have shown a significant pollution of the rivers by hydrocarbons resulting from the mining activities. Not to point fingers at anyone, the point I’m making is, to put it summarily, water plays more than a vital part in our well being.
Since the industrial revolution, albeit the successes mankind has made on this front to improve lives, the world has seen the worst increase in pollution. Chances are some of these effluents will get into the water one way or another, in the air as it rains, pesticides on farms etc. Consequently since we all require water to survive we are bound to come into contact with these pollutants. With all the effort put into urban water purification and distribution plants to clean it out still a percentage of pollution gets through. We may not notice the effects on us right away but just like the oil sands over a decade or two or more it may start manifesting itself on our health. Use of chlorine makes matters worse, despite its useful effects it ‘kills’ the water! Do a research on your own in its difference from natural spring water.
Not to scare anyone but it is a serious concern for most of the earth’s population without access to safe and clean drinking water. What if you could decide on how your water could be ‘served’? Drinking water that is close to pi-water, water that constitutes a living body. Has natural trace minerals retained and more so is good tasting and odourless. And zero percent chance of bacteria of course.
Many home water purification systems or equipments claim to do one or two of the benefits outlined which is good but not best. And since your body composition is water anyway, and physiological processes must use up water you deserve the best kind of water. Avoiding costs by boiling tap water does not necessarily improve matters. The bacteria may be gone but metals, pesticides etc if present still have an adverse effect on your health. On bottled water, well there are substandard ones; a study in the US by an advocacy group reveals ten leading brands contained contaminants in their water, you must all too well remember the Dasani fiasco in the UK a while back! And did you know that rarely would a gold fish survive in the so called bottled water?!
