How To Lose Weight For Good

We can make all the excuses we want, but it’s really all about the man/ women in the mirror. Losing weight is no easy task and with all the many hindrances (fast foods) we’re not the only one to blame. We just have to build new habits. How many times did our mothers tell us to brush our teeth before we went to bed, before we decided to do it on our own? EXACTLY!! Soooo, we need to make a decision to lose weight. Let’s face it, diets don’t fail, people do. Have you ever wondered how John Doe lost 30lbs in 30 days but we can’t seem to. He’s no different form us, in fact we’re better. It’s called being persistent and consistent. I’m sure you’ve heard it before. Make a commitment to yourself.

The first thing we must do is make up in our minds that this is something we are going to give our all to. If we schedule time to complete a project, WE MUST FOLLOW THROUGH!! Giving ourselves a part time schedule means that, nine times out of ten we either have a job, a family or just other commitments that can’t be avoided. It’s totally understandable that our time is precious and not a minute of it needs to be wasted. It’s really easy to say “Oh this is just part time, so I can do it later, “but when success doesn’t come as soon as expected then the “PROGRAM” didn’t work for us. (Not exactly the truth).

The second thing we want to do is educate ourselves on the many different weight loss programs that are available. With the internet, no one has the excuse to say what they don’t know. Google can find almost any and everything. Find a weight loss course that is realistic for you. No one knows YOU better than YOU. Lying to ourselves isn’t going to make us look or feel better. If we’re not morning people, we shouldn’t pick a program that wants us to start a 7:00am. Also, we need to educate ourselves on our food intake. How to curve our cravings and with what? Learn to count calories, and how to pre-make our meals. Learn what our bodies are lacking as far as vitamins that might assist us with our current cravings (example: you eat French fries daily) is our body lacking starch/carbohydrates or other natural energy sources? Maybe a supplemental vitamin can alter that desire. Is our body chemistry unbalanced? Things to look into, we can also ask our physician.

The third thing we want to do is get a friend or a coach who can go through this challenge with us, an accountable partner who is looking for the same results we are. An accountability partner can give us encouragement and positive feedback. We must allow them to be honest enough to let us know when we’re slipping and vice versa. This will keep our attitude positive. A wise person once said “so as man/women thinks so is he/she. Remember, the mind is a powerful mechanism and it controls the body.

The fourth and final thing is to put it all to action. We’ve set our goals; we have our plan and our support, now let’s make it work. Failure is not an option. Lack of preparation, lack hard work, and lack of education leads to failure and we have done all of the above. Start at a comfortable pace. Not too fast and not too slow. Let’s not cheat ourselves anymore. Yes, we can do this!!!
