Don Cherrys Best Quotes Of All Time

If there is one thing Don Cherry does, he speaks his mind! No one can argue that. His opinionated view on things causes him to monopolize the conversation on Coaches Corner. Is anyone complaining? Especially when he says some of the things he does:

Randy Gregg is a doctor who plays for the Edmonton Oilers. When he missed an empty net during a game, Don Cherry had something to say about it: Imagine that guy operating on you with hands like that!

About the Canadian Football League: The best thing about the CFL is that there are no Russians or Swedes playing. Are you even allowed to say something like that on national TV? I'm surprised that one didn't make the news!

What does Don Cherry think about immigrants in Canada?: When I arrive from my flight at 2am, guess who is always there to take my ticket? They work hard and that is why they are alright in my books. As much as I agree, couldn't you come up with a different way of saying it Don?

As opinionated as Don Cherry is, you have to respect him for speaking his mind. You either love him or you hate him. It seems to be about half and half.  Recently, with all of this controvery about changing the rules of the game to protect players from hits to the head, hits from behind or any other vulnerable hit, Don Cherry has had a lot to say. During the first NHL game of the 2011-2012 season, he discussed how players were now afraid to hit. Saying they feared a 10 game suspension from Brendan Shanahan. He stressed how he disagreed with Shanahan's view on NHL suspensions and it is in a way ruining the game of hockey.

This is quite an opinionated topic. If you grew up watching hockey in the time of the Broad Street Bullies and when Don Cherry played, the game was full of violent hits and physical play. Now, they are trying to protect the skilled players, such as Sidney Crosby from getting concussions and potentially ruining their careers. This will add a lot more speed and skill to the game at the same time. Don Cherry thinks differently of course, but everyone has their opinion, feel free to share!

Few people are willing to go against the flow, not Don. If he disagrees, he'll say it on national television; as he has, and continues to do on a regular basis. Have a good laugh and enjoy all of the funny things he has said over the years... keep em' coming Don!
