Everyone wants a clean house, but who has the time and where do you start? Having a clean house is important for the whole family. It helps you stay organized and gives a feeling of well being. That's all fine and good if you have time to clean, right? Cleaning the house doesn't have to take up endless hours. There are ways to get the work done quickly and fit it into any schedule. Follow this plan of action to get your house clean as quick as possible.
First, decide beforehand how clean your home needs to be. If you have both messies and neat-nicks living in your home, there may need to be some compromise on the level of cleanliness in your home. For speed cleaning sessions, you probably don't want to clean out the fridge and freezer and organize closets. Put those larger tasks on a long term cleaning list. Make your speed cleaning list the night before your housecleaning workday. Jot down what needs to be done so you have a starting point and a reference to follow and stick to so that you don't get sidetracked with other projects. As you are cleaning you can check off each task while feeling that you are accomplishing your goal.
Gather your tools and supplies. You will need a plastic carry-all container. In that you can keep all purpose cleaner, Comet or Soft Scrub, Magic Erasers, window cleaner, swiffer duster, furniture polish, rags, paper towels and rubber gloves. You'll also need a bucket, mop and a vacuum(for hard floors and carpet).
Start early. Don't procrastinate. Get going in the morning while you have the energy and so that you can enjoy the rest of the day when you are finished.
Stay focused. Turn off your phone! If you concentrate on getting the job done without distractions, it will get done a lot faster. Put on some upbeat music to keep you moving! Take note of your start time and end time so that you can continue to use this plan in the future and put your speed cleaning sessions into your schedule.
Clean one room at a time. Always clean from top to bottom and either right to left or left to right. Don't leave the room until it is finished. If there are items in the room that need to go to another room, put them in a basket or bin just outside the door. Refer to your list and don't clean things that aren't dirty. If you have family members or room mates, get them involved. Everyone gets a room or two to clean! Even if you don't have help, cleaning and finishing one room at a time will help keep you on task.
When you are finished, evaluate how the plan worked for you. Make changes to the plan as necessary but try to schedule regular times for speed housecleaning sessions. This will help you maintain your home. Also, be sure to give your self a small reward for a job well done. Chocolate or a fresh bouquet of flowers are always more enjoyable in a beautifully clean house.
