It's almost time to start planting the garden and we have a lot of planning to do for it. We spend a lot of time planning what to plant and where to put it. Figuring out what to plant next to each other is sometimes tricky because not all plants are compatable. And I love to figure out witch plants should be together to repel bugs. I thought this was so cool when I heard about it. Our garden is organic so we are still learning how to do it. But its great to spend that time with the family and we have fun doing it.
We start some plants indoors and this is great for the little ones. They are so courious in so many ways. My son has so much fun planting the seeds and taking care of them. And when a little plant finally pops up I have to look at it all the time. But this is ok with me because I love to see the excitement this family project brings.
You can go to lowes and buy kid starter kits that have the soil, seeds, and pots to put them in. Or you can use egg cartons, milk jugs, or pop bottle. You can find something around your house that will work. Make sure you buy fertilized soil to start your plants in. And a warm place to keep them.
My son planted a bean stalk last year that he got from school. He put the seed right in the garden and marked where it was. Watching the bean stalk grow made him so happy. He watered it and weeded it. He took great care of it.
You can plant alot of different things indoors and get them started. I start tomatoe plants and green peppers. I have found that I can start most seeds right in my garden. I would prefer to do it that way anyways because I don't have much room for starter plants.
I love this time of year so much. I love being out in my garden weeding around my plants. My son is also alot of help. Although he don't last as long as I do I love having him out there with me. He always has a ton of questions. I think questions are great because they learn so much when they ask them.
If you have any ideas to share I would love to add them. Just send me an email!
