My mom normally does not spend much time on the computer. With three children still at home, several poodles, a husband, and a house to take care of, she is very busy. However, she does occasionally go online, usually to find recipes.
If my mom had a Twitter account, she might go to the site to see if other users had posted recipes that she was interested in. She would then copy them and file them away for later. She might also check to see what topics are trending so that she would have something to talk about with Dad, my sisters, or her friends. I do not believe that she would be interested in getting more followers or in achieving a certain number of tweets by a certain date, however, because she has other interests.
One thing that she is interested in is staying in shape. My family lives in a residential area, and Mom regularly takes the dogs out with her when she goes walking. Walking allows her to work out, get some fresh air, and it gets her out of the house. In addition to fitness, she is interested in other things, as well.
Another thing she enjoys is going to the mall. She goes there usually not to buy but to walk. She likes walking inside where she does not have to worry about traffic, temperature extremes, or bad weather. While she is at the mall, she might go to the bookstore, where she may look at cookbooks or other books that catch her eye. When she is done at the bookstore, she may perhaps go to another store, such as GNC. There, she will browse the store to see what products they have to offer. Then, when she is done at the mall, she will head home. There, she has many things to do.
There might be clothes hanging on the clothesline that need to be brought in before the dew hits or before it gets dark, for example. With the clothes off the line and inside the house where the family can make use of them, she, my dad, and my sisters will have clean clothes to wear and clean towels to use after their showers or baths. They can then be healthy.
Another thing that Mom does is fix tasty meals. She makes dishes such as baked chicken, spaghetti, or lasagna, for example. These meals take time to fix, and she would likely not fix them if her attention were devoted to Twitter. She would be too eager to return to the computer to see what new trends had popped up. There is also a third thing that is important to Mom that makes it unlikely that she will ever get a Twitter account: sleep.
It is very easy to stay on Twitter and the other social networking sites late into the night and wind up missing out on valuable sleep, which causes fatigue the next day. My family is big on schedules. They get up in the morning, usually around 8:00, and they go to bed before midnight. By keeping a regular sleep schedule, they are energetic, and they avoid irritability.
Because of Mom’s other interests, I doubt that she will ever get a Twitter account, but who knows? I am frequently on Twitter, and if I happen to see her there one day, I will be happy.
