Protect Your Home When You Take A Trip

Perhaps there is a trip in your future. You might be traveling for business. For example, you might be going on a speaking tour, speaking to college students about time management. You might also be traveling for pleasure, finally taking an eagerly anticipated, long overdue vacation. Wherever you are going, and whatever yhou are doing, you want to know that your home is safe. When you know that your home is safe, you can relax. Then you can focus on the point of your trip.

If you are concerned that your home might not be safe, you will be miserable. You will spend your vacation worrying, which will be no fun for you. If you are speaking, you will be distracted, and you will not be able to focus on your speech. You want the school to invite you back. In order for that to happen, you cannot be worried about whether your home is safe.

One way to protect your home is to ask a neighbor to watch your house for you. Have the neighbor pick up your mail and newspapers. A pile of bagged-up newspapers sitting in your driveway would tell people that no one is home and would tempt someone to break into your house. With no pile of newspapers in the driveway, on the other hand, no one will know what is going on. Would-be robbers will then hopefully stay away.

Second, get a dog. Burglars will likely be scared off if they hear the deep bark of a big dog. They know that if they break in, they risk being bitten.

Finally, and this goes without saying, lock your doors and windows. If burglars cannot get in, they will hopefully stay out.

Your home should be safe. Pack your bags, and head for the airport. If you are speaking, make a great impression. Smile, and give a good presentation. Wow the audience with your knowledge. If you are going on vacation, enjoy some rest, relaxation, and fine dining. Then, on the last day of your trip, pick up a souvenir--one that will remind you of all of the fun you had.

When you come home, you will be very tired. Your dog will hear you coming and will greet you happily at the door, glad to have you home. When you walk in, you will see that your home is safe and sound--just the way you left it.
