Top Reasons to Homeschool Your Child

Homeschooling children is becoming increasingly common, especially with those that have adopted foreign and domestic children. Depending on who is asked, it may be preferable to keep your child home for school. Homeschooling may not be as easy as some say; however, it has benefits for the entire family. Continue for the top reasons to homeschool your child.

The brick and mortar, or public schools will say that homeschooling deprives children of being with other children in an atmosphere where they can concentrate on school. It also allows a certain institutionalization of our youth where the schools teach what the government wants and dictates what they teach. The No Child Left Behind Act and the bussing of children across cities to even out the school demographics is another government plan that can be seen as a failure in many respects. Lack of government interference is a top reason to homeschool your child.

When asking parents and children which is better, most that homeschool will tell you that homeschooling is better. Children at home aren’t pressured to use any illegal substances or to be in this crowd or that crowd. The lack of that type of pressure may even lead to a higher concept of self worth and independence. Children that are homeschooled don’t have to worry about how they are dressed or what shoes they wear. The lack of peer pressure is another top reason to homeschool your child. Wouldn’t it be nice if adults could go to work in their pajamas? Homeschooled children can literally stay in their pajamas all day if they like. What better comfort is that? The comfort of doing school in your home is a great top reason to homeschool your child.

When homeschooling your child, scheduling is a snap. You and your child can do what you need to do and schedule school around your schedule. Even online courses allow flexibility in scheduling courses and holidays. Creating your own school schedule is one of the top reasons to homeschool your child. Children often need help with their lessons in school. In a brick and mortar school, the child must raise their hand and wait for assistance. Sometimes the child is afraid to raise their hand because of intimidation by their peers or fear of looking dumb in front of their classmates. The help of homeschooled children is easily accessible and most often willing to help since the home teacher or parent is vested in the success of the child. The available help is another top reason to homeschool your child.

Homeschooled children have been known to have better behavior and better socialization, with solid morals and values than their brick and mortar schooled counterparts. This is probably the most important top reason to homeschool your child. Education is important; however, teaching communication skills with the values and morays that the family has is imperative. The parent wants the child to have the same values they have. With a brick and mortar school, the child gives in to the wants and needs of their peers and teachers. A homeschooled child will pay attention more to the parent and will be more willing to listen to the parent as they work closely together and don’t have the outside influences interfering with the morays the parent is teaching.

There are many reasons to homeschool your child. A few of the top reasons to homeschool are, convenience, flexibility, access to help, lack of peer pressure, lack of outside influences that can be harmful, better socialization along with solid values and morays. If there is any quandary on whether to homeschool or not, choose homeschooling for your child and family.
