Having a stay at home mom schedule is definitely the way to go, especially if you have little ones with you during the day. It is so easy to get off track and without the proper mechanisms in place you’re likely to never recover. Whatever stay at home mom schedule you choose should be flexible incase of unforeseen circumstances but allow for all of the things that must get done on a daily basis.
Start out by following your schedule Monday through Friday. Make your weekends a lot more relaxed and less structured. After all, everyone needs a day or two to just unwind. And I’ve found that being disciplined during the week really gives me the time to enjoy my weekends with family and friends.
Daily to-do list
Your schedule will look slightly different depending on what you’ll be doing on a daily basis. If your stay at home mom schedule is to include working from home, you’ll need to designate a specific time each day to complete certain tasks. If you have small children at home during the day, you’ll want to include playtime, reading time, and activity time.
Stay at home mom schedule with small children
Take into consideration what time your child wakes each morning. It will be best to rise at least an hour prior to your children waking up. That will give time to shower and dress. If you like to read, meditate, or having coffee in the mornings, this would also allow for that special “me” time. And by the time your children wake-up you’ll be refreshed and ready to prepare breakfast.
After breakfast, just follow the lead of your little one. If they still seem a little sleepy, maybe have an hour of educational tv time or read a book. This will give your child a chance to wake up naturally and not feel forced to jump into the learning schedule right away.
When you feel that your child is ready to progress through the rest of the morning, have some learning time. Toddlers need to refresh the alphabet and numbers on a daily basis. Also, name recognition is a great daily activity. Preparation for pre-school is a must for small children that stay at home.
The stay at home mom schedule that works for you
After the learning fun is done, just enjoy doing whatever activities that you and your child love sprinkled with a load of laundry here and a new recipe there. The most important thing that I think you should remember is to get the most important things out of the way earlier in the day. That way no matter what unexpected pop ups occur, you’ll have what you need done.
What happens when you work from home
Moms with stay at home mom jobs could find it a little difficult to squeeze in work-time during the day. That hour before your child wakes can be used. Also allow some quiet time in your stay at home mom schedule so that you'll be able to focus on your work. During this time your child may play quietly or take a nap. And of course, if all else fails, after your child is asleep for the night, you'll be able to get that work done. Just remember that every day is not going to be perfect. Wake up each day with purpose, do as much as you can, and feel good about what you've accomplished.
