So many times we attempt tasks that seem to take forever to get right. We may even feel we will never figure it out but with persistence we can succeed. The only time we truly fail is when we quit trying. When Thomas Edison was asked about the 1,000 attempts at creating an incandescent light bulb, Mr. Edison replied I didn’t fail 1,000 times to create the light bulb, I just found 1,000 ways that won’t work. It is this attitude that can push you to new heights in your endeavors be it affiliate marketing, article marketing or creating the next great invention that redefines life as we know it (can you imagine life if Thomas Edison hadn’t persisted in creating the light bulb?) . I believe it comes down to organization. If we take a random approach then we aren’t accomplishing anything but if you methodically approach a problem you can eliminate the tasks that are unnecessary, refine the ones that are necessary and optimize the result to achieve your goal.
Sometimes we try and try but nothing seems to work or even begin to show signs of progress. Instead of giving up, the only real failure, we need to readjust our thinking, take a step back and try a different perspective. It also helps to not focus on the failures but on what the failures tell us. The failures will tell you, if you allow them to, what will not work. Your approach could be leading you down a blind alley but if you review the failed attempts you may see a path that will lead to something close to a solution. Don't underestimate the power of serendipity. Discovering something you didn't set out to but happily you found a solution that may be better than what you set out to accomplish.
I find that the best way to accomplish goals and keep one motivated is to keep a journal. In the journal you can record your thoughts, parameters of the attempts that failed and attempts that succeeded even if only slightly. You can go back to your journal to see if there is a thread running through the failures (and successes) that can lead you to a more productive pursuit for your goals.
The main idea to remember is that attempting and failing is not a failure. The only failure is to quit trying. Sometimes taking a step back will allow you to gain a better perspective on the situation.
