First and foremost as the name suggests its principal purpose is water filtration hence the first aspect to look out for is functionality. Is it meeting its purpose? At a bare minimum this should cover capability of serving a purpose well, in this case filtration. Good water filters for home may require a demonstration or at least a trial to uncover this. Any serious manufacturer of water filtration systems I’d want to believe can meet this basic requirement to its potential customers one way or the other to be taken seriously.
Durability of the product is another key aspect. How long does the maker guarantee the product to last for under average rate of use? Longer lasting products are desirable. Additionally tolerant to expected conditions e.g. not adversely affected by say little knocks from kids playing around the house. This justifies acquisition and cuts down on the hustle of logistics and assemblies to be carried out in short intervals; summarily is practicable to have and use within the home environment.
A major consideration for most people I believe would also be cost. How much does it cost to purchase it? A customer is not necessarily looking for a cheap product but for value for their money. Well everyone has their price range/budget but value is placed above this. Nobody really cares if its body is made of titanium to warrant the price, what value do I derive from it? And does it match the cost? Moreover price of maintenance over its lifetime is another factor to consider. Most filtration devices that I’ve come across only need filter replacement after a number of months of use depending on maker’s proposed time.
Support from the manufacturer is also vital for a water filtration system. Buying a product with no warranty, no user support line is committing consumer suicide! A great product must be backed by an equivalent great support. A need of a technical nature may arise which can only be resolved by the maker hence is of utmost importance that this be within reach, enough said.
A not necessarily important feature one ought to look out for is the design. This is just my preference in things I buy, I love a sleek design in a product. Pleasing to the eye just like an outstanding car! May be you do too or it’s something else you look out for, not sure but I know there’s something sentimental in everything you acquire, especially a domestic item like a water filter.
