Creative Ways to Use Anniversary Poems
All married couples have been there. Unmarried couples, too. Your anniversary is quickly approaching and you aren’t sure what gift to give your spouse or lover. You want to find a meaningful present that will remind him or her of the love the two of you share.
Many couples go to dinner or take a trip; others buy specific items that their significant other may want. More creative couples, however, may want to consider giving anniversary poems. These verses can speak volumes about your feelings toward one another, often with words that you might have trouble writing yourself.
Here are some imaginative ways of incorporating anniversary poems into your gift this year:
• Write your anniversary poem in calligraphy on parchment paper and read it to your spouse on your special day. They will be able to keep this poem for years to come.
• Find several anniversary poems and email one a day starting a week before your anniversary. Have the poems become more meaningful and personal as the week progresses, and can be sent on your big day in a loving anniversary ecard.
• Find an anniversary poem online or in a book and engrave it on a picture frame that holds a favorite photo of the two of you. This gift can be placed around the house and will serve as a constant reminder of your love.
• Include your special poem in an anniversary card. Find a beautiful, sentimental and fitting card that already contains a wonderful poem or print an anniversary poem up and put it inside the card for a personal touch.
• For the truly bold and creative, write your own anniversary poem! It’s not as hard as it sounds. Before you begin writing your own poem, ask yourself the following questions and the answers might help you put something truly poetic together:
- What are five words that describe your significant other the most?
- What are five words that describe how you feel about your significant other?
- What are five words that describe how he/she makes you feel?
- What are some of your favorite memories of him/her, i.e. places you've been, special moments you’ve shared, etc.
- Where do you see yourselves in five years? Describe it.
There is a wide variety of anniversary poems available online. A little research for poems can go a long way. Find which ever poem fits your message voice, and try to sub your own words in. Soon, you will be a love poet creating the perfect poem for your significant other. Once you are able to create your poem, add it to your favorite anniversary card to hand to your special someone.
Whichever way you decide to use your poem, your wife, husband or significant other will appreciate the time you took. Anniversary poems are a wonderful way to express your love for each other and your excitement about the years you have spent together. Plus, all gifts that include anniversary poems can be treasured for many years to follow.
