Since the world of the iPhones, Smart Phones, and Androids, texting has become a language of it's own and almost a necessity for society today. It used to be much harder to text than it is now. You used to have to hit the number that the letter was on, and hit it multiple times to change from letter to letter and a couple sentences could take up to 20 minutes for one text.
As technology progressed, Phone makers came up with a thing called T9 which would come up with words from the numbers that were typed in. This sped things up a lot but was not flawless. If you were typing something that was not in the database, then you would have to add the word. This was still a lot faster than manually typing each letter but still this created a lot of mistakes in texts.
So when iPhone came out, they created something called autocorrect. Autocorrect was created to automatically change mispelled words to the right words. This was created because the touchscreen keyboard was new to people and they would hit letters beside others. It will also save every word into it's hard drive to use in your future texts. This was a very good idea and was followed shortly after by android and all other smart phones. Today autocomplete is programmed in every phone you buy today. I say this was a good idea, but you might not think so when it helps you open mouth and insert foot.
That is right. If you didn't put your foot in your mouth enough by yourself, autocorrect will sure help you. It could change the word "duck" to something that rhymes with it and starts with an "f." It could change the word "buy" to "blow." So the sentence..."I am going to have a Duck for Christmas and then look for some sales for gifts from Walmart to buy the youngsters," could make you sound like nothing short of a pervert. This is just one example. If you are a normal texter you have probably been a victim to the autocorrect curse.
This happens to so many people that Jillian Madison has written a book "Damn You, Autocorrect." The book has some of the funniest autocorrect texts in them. She has also created a website. The website is even getting attention from the Huffington Post among others. Damn You Autorrect is one of the funniest things ever. It is endless laughter and you could watch people write the craziest things by accident and watch people's reactions. Sometimes the reactions are funnier than the mistakes.
So be sure to proof read your text messages before hitting that send button or you could be the next one saying "Damn You, Autocorrect"
