Four Reasons Why You Should Consider Buying An Electric Car

Are you tired of paying outrageous gas prices? Have you looked into any alternatives? Maybe you should consider buying an EV, or electric vehicle. There are many reasons why EVs are great choices. Electric vehicles are becoming very popular in today's society as they are environmentally and economically friendly. Here are four reasons as to why you should consider electrifying your ride.

1. They are great for the environment.

EVs, also known as ZEVs, or zero emissions vehicles, have many environmental perks. For one, they don't release emissions into our environment, unlike traditional cars with an internal combustion engine. And sure, the power companies that produce the electricity that electric cars run on does release emissions, it is still a lot less than than the emissions released from driving gas-powered cars. If you want to reduce your carbon footprint, a ZEV is the way to go.

2. They are inexpensive to maintain.

You may think that these electric modes of transportation are expensive to buy, and you're right. In today's market, EVs are pricey. But, they are cheap to take care of. Since they don't use oil or release emissions, you don't have to pay for oil changes or emission checks. Charging them is also inexensive. It's estimated that you would pay two cents per every mile you drive when you own an electrically powered vehicle. It's also estimated that you pay roughly fifteen cents per mile when you own a gas-powered car. That makes a huge difference.

3. Everyone is making them.

Many big name car companies are now making electric alternatives to gas guzzlers in all kinds of styles. If you like high performance sports cars, the Tesla Roadster by Tesla Motors has you covered. Maybe you're a pickup truck kinda guy. If that's the case, there is an all electric version of the Chevy Silverado called the Via eRev. It doesn't matter what your tastes are, or whether you like Fords, Chevys, or just about anything else. If you can think of a car company, they probably make a ZEV, or are planning on making one soon.

4. They are still being researched.

Let's face it, electric cars have flaws too. The batteries are expensive, heavy, and bulky, and they only have about a 100 mile range on a single charge. But it's okay, they are still being researched. Electrically powered cars have been around for almost 100 years and they have only gotten better. And they will continue to get better, as zero emissions vehicles are the future.

If you are thinking about buying an electric vehicle, take these things into consideration. An electric car is a great alternative to paying high gas prices and paramount to energy conservation. In the words of Bob Lutz, the Vice Chairman of General Motors, "The electrification of the automobile is inevitable."
