Electric cars are a hot and interesting subject these days, not only for those who wish to purchase an electric vehicle or those who are generally interested in cars, but also for those who are interested in protecting the environment and those who are just curious about what these cars are and what they can accomplish. Furthermore, the industry is just beginning to spread its wings at full capacity, so we’re to expect even more impressive results from it. This year will definitely see some amazing electric cars on the market, thanks to advancements made in energy-efficiency and energy production technologies.
In this article we’re going to focus on just one of the cars that are supposed to make a dent this year, the full electric hatchback Nissan Leaf. This electric vehicle is a cute and compact car with five seats and four doors and can be purchased in three versions – S, SV and SL. While it only carries 107 horsepower, the Nissan Leaf is ideal for city driving, offering autonomy of approximately 160 miles. It may take some 7 hours to charge, but doing that at night-time, when most electric companies lower their rates, will definitely make an owner feel lucky.
The Nissan Leaf is fitted with an EM62 Electric Motor which confers it almost 110 horsepower and an impressive 280 Nm of torque, which drivers will surely enjoy. Nissan Leaf is evidently a car built with the driver in mind, because this compact and quite endearing-looking electric vehicle has some specs that would impress any performance-oriented buyer. Featuring front wheel drive, the Nissan Leaf is supposed to reach a maximum speed of 144 km/h, and accelerate to 100 km/h in just 12 seconds. It is also fitted with all the safety precautions that any car should have, such as six airbags, 3-point seat belts, tire pressure monitoring system and others.
The interior of this electric car is also smartly designed, because it is not only attractive and comfortable, but it is made to provide the driver with a great driving experience. The dashboard features all sorts of parameters and devices meant to give current status information whenever you drive it, such as motor temperature, charge levels, electric current usage, and others. Other options include 7-inch display, music system and GPS navigation, not to mention reverse camera allowing the driver to see easily behind the car.
The Nissan Leaf can be charged at any home electrical outlet, as well as in special charging stations, through a plug situated on the front side of the car, right beneath the Nissan emblem.
