Hello out there people, this is Vulture once again with a bit of an update. For those of you who are awaiting the followup of my previous article. There as been a big change of plans. Landing that 4 cyl tuner car is officialy out the window, thanks to more bills. But oh well, what can you do? Answer: make the best of what you have. What I have is a 6 cylinder. Good for power, but fuel efficient? That is probably not the case.
I'm a guy that likes challenges. So here we go make a 6 cylinder that saves gas as good or better these 4 cylinder cars out there. So lets see how where I started: was buying a car specificly for the purpose of saving at the pump (a small 4 cylinder). From craigslist to the auctions, the hunt was on. I would call on something that was reasonably priced and before you know it: GONE! Ok call next best choice: BEEN SOLD! This happenned quite a bit. I had not even hit up the auctions yet (probably would have been more mad then because there will always be someone with those deep pockets, HA HA!) During this process, I would check the money that I had available and it would be less and less as I took care of things here and there. Neccesities of course. So I came to the conclusion that a new car for the purpose would not be feasible at this time so thats where I'm at right now.
Now let me introduce my partner in this mission: Meet the E39........ For those of you not familiar with that term, it is a BMW 528i made from 95'-03'. Nice car in my opinion, comfy, good looks and good power. They came with a 6 cyl or an 8 cyl. Mine is the 6 cyl. I'm have grown quite impressed of the 6cyl power, especially on the freeway. I can only imagine how the V8 feels.
Now my very first objective in this mission is some repairs that I must carry out before I can really dive in and start putting my ideas into motion.
- Replace head gasket
- fix MECHANICAL electrical issues (the cosmetic ones I don't care about)
Yes I need to replace my head gaskets and maybe I will tackle a few other things while I'm in there. I'm have been driving with a bad head gasket for a few months now. (silly me, don't you just love that stuff that you can pour in and "fix the problem" ha ha) But been pretty fortunate so far that I haven't had any major problems with it. I am really intrigued by this project tho. Imagine driving a nice bimmer simialar to that pic in the top right corner and be a fuel miser.
