The ever climbing cost of fuel, coupled with concern for the environment, is making many of us to search for an alternative way to get around. Hybrid and electric cars are seen by most to be the way forward, but if you drive a diesel powered vehicle you can .run your car on bio-diesel and go green today.

Diesel's bad reputation.

Diesel engined vehicles have a bad reputation as dirty smelly black smoke belching monsters, and they couldn't look further from an environment loving machine if they tried. However this image is I feel unfair. A little known fact is that the diesel engine, when it was originally developed by Rudolf Diesel in 1897, was intended to run on vegetable oil and not the heavy oil byproduct of petroleum distillation that became the norm. This only happened because the dirty fossil fuel oil was cheaper than organic vegetable based oil, this is no longer the case.

Cleaner.

Bio-diesel is made from almost any oil that can be extracted from bio mass. Vegetable oil from rapeseed, sunflowers, and soya beans, being the most common. However almost any oil producing bio matter can be used. Recently it has even been produced from used coffee grounds.

Organic oil produced in this way is clean, and non toxic. When it burns it produces no evil black smoke, and no bad smells either, Due to the fact, unlike regular diesel, it contains no sulfur. In fact the smell from a bio fueled engine has been described as being like french fries or donuts frying.

Fewer emissions.

As well as producing no smoke, bio-diesel produces 80% less carbon dioxide. This is great as CO2 emissions are a big concern, and as a greenhouse gas have been linked to man made climate change. However as well as this there will be no more black dust covering our cities, and no more choking sulfurous smell either.

No environmental danger.

As well as being clean and non toxic, fuel made in this way is biodegradable. Imagine if a tanker of regular diesel crashes, its a big problem right? Well the same kind of accident with a bio fuel tanker poses no such problem. The oil can be washed away and will break down in nature, where it will be absorbed causing no damage or residual toxic waste.

If you run your car on bio-diesel you really can go green today. It will cost you nothing as most engines can use the fuel with no modification. You will feel good too because you will be doing your bit for the planet.

Make your own bio-diesel.

Did you know you can save money by producing your own bio fuel at home. For comprehensive instructions visit this make bio-diesel website at www.how-to-make-biodiesel-today.blogspot.com/.
