Local Supermarket Fruit Found to Stop Blood Clots

Every single cell, groups of cells, organs and parts of the human body depends on the efficient supply of blood in order to function. Therefore, it is vital that a steady flow of blood continues throughout the system without interruption. Unfortunately, there are times when blood flow to various parts of the body may be impeded by the formation of blood clots.

Permit me to point out that blood clots in and of themselves are not necessarily harmful. In fact there are times when blood clots are life savers, for example in cases of cuts and internal bleeding. In these cases, you want your blood to clot so that other more serious health conditions could be prevented. However, when there are abnormal clots that obstruct blood flow to specific parts of the body any number of health challenges may occur including hypertension, heart attacks and strokes.

Generally speaking clots occur when substances in the blood known as platelets cling together and form clusters that are difficult to navigate through the blood vessels. Usually platelets will only form these clusters if the blood is exposed, but it is now believed that certain protein molecules inside the blood vessels may also lead to clotting. One such protein molecule is fibrin. When fibrin is found at certain levels it forces platelets to clump together creating potentially dangerous internal blood clots. The body may naturally rid itself of these clots through the production of another protein called plasmin. If this process is effective then no health complication arises. However, if the body is unable to effectively counteract the impact of fibrin, the clots can lead to dangerous health conditions.

Abnormal blood clotting and other health disorders can sometimes very easily be taken care of with the implementation of a healthy diet. In the case of clotting, it is well known that inclusion of pineapples as part of a proper diet can help to prevent thrombosis (blood clotting). It is believed that in addition to preventing platelets from coagulating, pineapple also contains a substance called Bromelain. Bromelain stimulates the production of plasmin which in turn helps to flush fibrin from the blood and in so doing reduces the incidence of clotting.

The formation of blood clots for reasons other than the prevention of bleeding can lead to many serious health conditions. Among them are heart attacks and strokes. Fortunately, it has been shown that including certain foods in our diet can be a tremendous help in preventing blood clots. Bromelain, the anti-clotting substance found in pineapple and other fruits is also available in handy capsule form for those who prefer to take it as a supplement. As always, be sure to check with your doctor before starting any supplement regimen.

Hi Lewis, many thanks for the feedback. Pineapples are very sweet so if you're a diabetic, my suggestion is to limit your intake. Cheers!

Hi Elsie, great hearing from you and many thanks for the feedback. No sure about this particular condition, but I would say that if you have been eating pineapples and haven't suffered any ill side effect so far, it's probably ok. Again many thanks for your comment.

Also use fresh pineapple or pineapple juice with turmeric to cure leaky gut syndrome. Fresh pineapple and papaya contain digestive enzymes as well. Bromelain and Papayin. Great article.

Hi Osteosport, many thanks for the feed back. I am not that familiar with leaky gut syndrome but it's good to know that pineapple can help with this too. I'm doing a piece on the papaya now, grateful for your feedback on that too. Many thanks.
