Dangerous Rise In Emigrants Negatively Affecting Lithuania

The article tells about why the rate of emigrants leaving the state is increasing and how the institutions and other concerned departments are overlooking this disastrous condition which is ultimately spoiling the economy of the state.

Lithuanian citizenship by investment has become a major practice these days to get access to the European Union states that are culturally, economically and strategically ideal locations to earn a better living. Since Lithuania got strategically connected to the EU it gave rise to an increased rate of migrants for free as this practice of migration was made legal. The increased rate of migration is due to the legally free opportunity given off by the government, backed by the remarkable economic differences in both the localities of EU and Lithuania.

People migrate from Lithuania because few main reasons such as they want to earn a better living and earn extra money and they are willing to save it for a better lifetime for them, their future and their family, therefore, these migrants are solely depending on the Lithuanian citizenship by investment to make an entry into the EU states. Though they have not absolute targets, but what comes to them is like a piece of gold due to remarkable economic condition of the states. This has compelled the State’s government to make up for the citizens living in their country and try to provide an ample favorable condition for a standardized living and sufficient facilities so the residents stop moving forward to other countries, and maintain the dignity and decorum of the county.

The trends of emigrants leaving Lithuania keep on fluctuating but stabilized a bit in the period from 2008-2009 rising to a major increase particularly due to the global economic crisis. According to government census and statistics, around 83 thousand people made an exit from Lithuania, in 2010 due to the unfavorable living condition which was around 4 times higher than the rate of emigrants observed the previous year. This forced experts and analysts to analyze the situation as around 30% of the total population of Lithuania left the country within 22 years of independence that mainly comprised of youth and experienced, skilled and qualified specialists. The main reasons for the country residents to leave / migrate to other regions are as below:

• Low wages with fewer employment opportunities

• Lack of self-realization standards

• Career insecurity and ambiguity

• Substandard education system and medicinal institutions

It is time to access the threat of this sky rocketing emigration problem in Lithuania. Emigration gives birth to precarious implications for the Lithuanian State. Emigration casts a negative effect on the demographics as the number of citizens are decreasing as compared to the size of the country which leads to intense consequences such as

• Decreased potential of fertilization

• Increased number of divorces when the emigrants move forward leaving their families behind

• An increase in the emigration, the valuable but limited budget resources are being used ineffectively.

• The highly talented, skilled personnel look forward to wealthier regions to earn a respectable living which decreases the potential of the state to develop and prosper.

Most of the people have been coming to Lithuania on account of Lithuanian citizenship by investment and exploiting this very lucky cause to the fullest and migrate to different regions. The intense rate, emigration has been raised to a serious threat, however the government institutions and other civil departments are not paying much importance to this critical issue. They are leniently handling this immigration issue with not much focus on strategies or programs to retain the individuals.
