The Originality Of The Lithuanian State Is On Its Decline

There is a rapid increase in the number of people migrating out of the country which is causing drastic changes in the ethnic structure of inhabitants, inappropriate possibilities of lack of patriotism and socially weakened capital.

Inhabitants of Lithuania state are making their way out to other countries and causing an intense rise in the extent of Emigration which is causing a great danger to Lithuania. Some people are coming from the Asian or Middle East countries on account of second citizenship by investment and after earning a nationality move forward as they get a pass to enter the European countries.

If we talk about the forecasts of the UN and the Eurostat, by 2035 the number of inhabitants in Lithuania is going to decrease so much making up to only 3 million residents. 3 million inhabitants mean a potential crisis situation which adversely affects the labor market, which imposes the following major threats to the overall country:

• A decrease in labor (human source) and the number of working personnel will turn out to be less taxation funds on account of what the government receives which will be ultimately difficult to support healthcare and social security system.

• The healthcare and medical institutions and other social platforms are needed for the elderly people of the country which is supported on the funded money by the government and people, whom is going to be decreased due to less inhabitants and the deserving and old age groups will be directly affected.

• This in turn leads to dangerous demographic, economic and social consequences for Lithuania.

The people residing inside the country are lured by other European states due to their remarkable economic growth and versatile standards of living and merely enter Lithuania on account of second citizenship by investment to move forward to other regions for a better living. The official data gathered from the” Department of Statistics, in 1990-2010” reveals the fact that around half a million of the Lithuanian inhabitants were emigrating from the state. However, according to the experts “this static figure is over 1.5-2 times higher the significant amount of immigration is Strengths of Emigration from Lithuania: Demographic, Social and Economic Consequences 247 Unofficial”.

According to another research conducted by the Department of Statistics on undeclared migration reveals that “only every 2nd or -3rd inhabitant declares their departure when emigrating”. This analysis throws light as to how the number of emigrants is still increasing and if not controlled or monitored can seriously harm the overall economy of the country. The population number is among the most affected fragment of this rapid emigration, in quantitative terms of the process. The population number has been decreasing at an exponential rate which is considered as one of the chief most problems of emigration.

The Intensive migration activities have always been the potential influences on the changing ethnocentricity levels of the inhabitants living in an area. The local inhabitants are few and far between therefore they no longer favor the local products and be more inclined towards the imported products. This severe shift in migrants gives rise to a greater possibility of de-nationalization where the patriotism and care for the motherland is reduced to a minimal. However if we focus on the issue of partial migration, “where one or both parents go to work abroad and the family remains in Lithuania”, the social capital of Lithuania, as well as the family, is weakened.
