All of us, at some point in time have come across that guy who gripes about everything, their life, their work or their circumstances. They do not see they are miserable and that their misery is the reason why things just don’t seem to work out their way.
What they secretly may think is that other person doesn’t deserve to feel good if I don’t. They become envious and complain that other people are only doing well because of their connections, or the fact they are suck ups, etc… Yada Yada Yada. Next time you see a person like this, tell them to shut the hell up! (Of course not lol- but I know that’s what you’re thinking in that moment), Instead tell that you don’t know what the other person has gone through to get to where they are.
What these people don’t realize is that difficulties and setbacks are ways for us to prove and improve ourselves. For example, let’s say “Jim” was passed up for a promotion and the position went to “Raekwon”. Now the first thing that Jim would probably do is become bitter (If he was already a miserable person) and complain to his buddies or coworkers with office gossip about Raekwon or Raekwon’s boss or the company itself, and start to infect the workplace with a bad attitude. What Jim doesn’t realize is that Raekwon probably may have been coming to work extra early, staying later, learning the skills to get better, kept a very positive attitude and continued being effective all the time whether people noticed or not. So Raekwon’s “luck” to Jim and other people was for himself hard work personal sacrifice.
At times of setback it is best practice to look deep within and assess the situation. See where you went wrong and see where you can learn more. In every difficulty there is an opportunity in disguise. It’s a lesson to be learned because you see where you can improve; so you are prepared the next time for your moment.
See the worst thing that can happen is having your opportunity and not being prepared for it, because if you get that opportunity then you look like a fool when or if you fumble. In times of setbacks is where you gain your most valuable lessons – the wisdom that will make you stronger. Never ever dwell on the setback just strive to improve.
