Embrace Life

How very fortunate I was tonight.

I do not have a television and even if I did, I would not use it very often. It would be mainly for sport and then to watch events, such as the Queen's Jubilee. I chose to stop watching television in 1993, not that I have my head in the sand, but mainly because, I am a sensitive viewer.

I also decided that the time in the evening, for me, is best spent on reading. I would write to all my friends frequently, so letter writing was another evening project that I enjoyed intensely. Pen pals were the passion of a young letter writer as well. How very exciting , to hear news from someone at the other end of the world.

Well, tonight I was unable to watch the Jubilee, which appears to have been amazing, from the comments that I have read all over Face Book. I had a very dear friend, posting black berry photos of all the artists singing. Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones, Robbie Williams, Elton John, Cliff Richard and so the list goes on.

There was an incredible fire works display and a very touching speech by the Prince himself, to his Mother the Queen. It certainly did bring the best part of the world together in celebration!

However, for me the evening turned out to be extremely rewarding!

An old friend of mine called me up to chat and in no time at all, I could sense that she was in a negative state of mind. The world is a mess, what are we going to do? Her exact words were "Life sucks!".

Wow ! That did take me back a step or two. We live in the same country, come from the same country and now live fifteen minutes apart. What made the huge difference ?

Of course, we all know straight away, what it is.

Attitude!

My heart tore for her. She made it obvious that she would like to hold her scars as hurt. I loved the saying that I once heard. 'I wear my scars like medals.' Is that not a good way to look at it? I am certain that you will all agree.

How fortunate I am. I do not need to be told that either, I know it. Having control of your emotions and choosing your life, are huge assets. It took training and determination and is now pure habit.

I can laugh at myself daily, I barely go a day without laughing. I live alone so have no one but myself to rely on for laughter. I have become very good at laughing at most things.

I am so very fortunate in knowing, that when I put my head down on my pillow tonight. I have embraced my day, to the fullest. I go to sleep tonight, feeling contented and loved. At peace with the world.

It is difficult to understand, that all this chaos that is going on out there. To experience this peaceful way of life, and to think others swap this way of life for violence, theft and bitterness?

I do not even try to calculate or work out why?

My life. or that life ?

Which do 'you' choose ?

Attitude, positive mental attitude is the only way to get through life. If you dwell on the negative or set about hating people for the things they say or do then you are wasting precious time. I say go for the silver lining.

I admired Linda with her chemo hair loss, the dokkies started to aggravate and she went out bare headed, after I said to her to wear her wounds with pride, that attitude has filtered through and she has never hidden her disease again, it has made her more able to help others through there trying times, a lot of which I think is the persons embarrassment of having the infliction and are shy to let others know... Of course it is nonsense and I think people will support far more if they know your ailments... Linda of course spends more time helping those she knows are suffering and is not shy to talk about her story, after all it is inspiring...

Rob, I have aware that Linda is not well, but what has Linda Got? Good for her to help others as well.

Colon, breast and ovarian cancer and has had the rare disease Onco-Cytoma, she's at present in remission and hopefully will stay that way.. but its not a case of " if it comes back" as to "when is it coming back". Hopefully only to return when we have both died of old age...lol..
