Love And Approve

If you knew you could have most anything simply by affirming it in your mind; would you do it?

I became aware of affirmations one day in the late 70’s when a friend drove me on a surprise outing from Huntington Beach to Palm Desert California on a lovely Sunday morning drive. We entered a church and we’re escorted to the third row, center seats. Out came a medium height blonde haired woman. She greeted the audience with a smile then opened her arms wide as if to give a friend a hug and said, “the totality of potentiality is yours to have.” My mouth dropped and my eyes were focused on her positive demeanor. Louise Hay was vibrant, energetic and enthusiastic about her new book that she was promoting, “You Can Heal Your Life.” Today she has republished her book many times and created Hay House; a publishing company for New Thought books and materials.

I began with the affirmation, “I love and approve of myself.” One thousand times a day is not even times to affirm this loving comment into your thoughts. I was amazed how good I felt, immediately. I don’t know if I ever came close to a thousand times a day, and it doesn’t matter. I was feeling good.

I realized one day as I was walking my dog that I had a partnership of ideas occurred in my thoughts. Obedience training for my dog and affirmation training for my mind; each is about discipline and rewards, good behavior vs. bad behavior. Controlled thought vs. uncontrolled thought. I had a choice to use affirmations throughout my day to create my reality. Ernest Holmes says, “A trained mind is more powerful than an untrained mind.” Up until I began using affirmations, I was a negative thinker. I didn’t try to do it on purpose; it seemed my mind went into negative talk on its own. I know I have to take responsibility and ownership regarding my thoughts, and I figured I was very comfortable being poopy with my thoughts. Until I learned there is One Universal Mind at work and I’d attract like minded people that were poopy like me, ooh! I realized my mind needed a training session of affirmations and so I began, “I love and approve of myself!” Louise Hay would be very proud.

Affirmations will change your life; you’ll feel better and you’ll attract what you’ve been affirming; loving people that approve of themselves and want better for the planet.

So now that you know my story about using affirmations, would you use affirmations to acquire most anything in your life?
